If you don't have the user's manual for the machine, here it is: www.thinkvacuums.com/pdf/uprights/Hoover_F5914900.pdf
Check your system for any obstructions that could possibly causing the problem. Also, remove the brushes and see if there's a problem between the brushes and the motor.
hello. there is a little window by the brush control. if you open it up, you can see that there is maybe some lint covering it. scrape that off, and try again. make sure your lever is set to brushes and realease the handle release. if this doesn't work, then you probably have a problem with your gear box. this can only be serviced at a repair shop. I hope this helps. Let me know! Thanks, Renevacdoc
There is a filter on the front right hand side of my F5871-900 Hoover. If you remove the plastic covering and clean that filter (wet finger may do), you're Hoover will begin spinning again!
If the brushes quit spinning, either the brush block shaft that goes into the turbine broke off, or the turbine is bad. This unit is tricky to take apart and then put back together again. But pull the brush asm off, then start taking out screws. But if after you pull off the brush block, look up where you will see a small square hole, turn unit on and if not turning, usually the turbine is the cause and will have to be replaced.
