If it's the bottom you've removed, then you're almost there..you'll need to remove the keyboard, and under neath that, you'll find two or three more, holding the palm rest down..

I have a compaq presario CQ80 lap top. I am getting an error that the HDD needs to be replaced. It has a 160 gb hdd, and I would like to replace it with something bigger. I cant seem to find any ac

the only thing you need to know is if it is a sata or ide hard drive (if you look at the end of the drive if it has a lot of little holes it's an ide) then shop for whatever size drive you want i.e 250GB 2.5" hard drive. Because it's for a laptop it will have to be a 2.5" hard drive.

I want to change the harddisk, but I can not get the computer opened in order to so. Any suggestions?

In order to change the hard drive on this laptop you are going to have the remove the battery and the keyboard because the hard drive is directly under the keys. When you remove the battery you will see 3 screws, remove them. Open the screen and flip the laptop over to see, in the battery compartment, the keyboard release access. Insert a flexible tool and press inward to release the keyboard. Flip the laptop over and gently lift up the top part of the keyboard until it releases. You will see you have the hard drive there. Unscrew it, remove the bracket and replace the hard drive. Be careful not to loose any screws and never force a screw back into place.

Where can I find a schematic or instructions to open my toshiba satellite u205-s5067 laptop. I want to clean/replace my fan.

Taking apart a laptop to change the fan is a relatively simple task. Just keep track of where all the screws go and follow these steps:

1. Shutdown the laptop and remove the AC adapter. Disconnect any devices, such as a printer or external DVD-ROM or drive, that are attached to the laptop

2. Remove the laptop battery. Turn the laptop upside down, slide the battery release latch and then pull the battery out of the bay.

3. Unscrew the hard drive cover. Grab the hard drive tab and shift the hard drive to the left to unplug it. Lift the hard drive out of the bay.

4. Unscrew and remove the PCI memory cover, the optical drive cover, and switch cover.

5. Unscrew the two screws that hold the keyboard to the base, these are located in the middle of the rear panel. Flip the laptop over so it is right side up, open and remove the keyboard by using the keyboard release switches located above the keyboard. Next, unplug the Toshiba Satellite U205-S5067 Fan cable.

6. Close the laptop and turn it over so it is bottom up. Unscrew the display assembly screws located under the laptop screen hinges. Turn the laptop over so it is right side up. Open the laptop and unplug the display assembly cable and disconnect the wireless antenna from the display assembly. Unscrew the display assembly from the laptop base and remove.

7. Unplug the mouse pad cable. Turn the laptop over so the bottom side is up and unscrew the base screws which are located along all four sides of the laptop base. Gently remove the base of the laptop.

8. Turn the laptop over so it is right side up. Unplug the fan cable from the circuit board. Unscrew the screws holding the Toshiba Satellite U205-S5067 CPU fan assembly to the laptop. Lift the fan assembly out of the laptop.

9. Insert the new Toshiba Satellite U205-S5067 CPU fan assembly into the lap top. Screw the assembly unit to the lap top and plug the Toshiba Satellite U205-S5067 CPU cooling fan cable into the circuit board.

10. Reassemble the laptop by repeating the previous steps in reverse order.

Hope this helps.

Hi i have a hp pavilion lap top ze4315. i am

First, get a small Phillips head screwdriver, a credit card, and something like an egg carton to store all the screws you'll pull out. You'll also need something to clean the dust off the heatsink and fans--a can of compressed air is by far the best choice for this.

Note: READ ALL THE DIRECTIONS BEFORE YOU START. This is not an easy thing to do, especially your first time. Be careful. This is not a quick job either; I'd budget at least two hours of solid work, and it may take the whole afternoon.

Step 1: Shut the machine down, unplug it, and remove the battery. It might also be wise to back up your important data.

Step 2: Open up the cover on the bottom of the laptop where the WiFi card sits. Carefully unplug the antenna cables from this card.

Step 3: On the back of the laptop there should be several screws near the display hinge. Unscrew these and remove them. Then open the display all the way until it is flat. Use the credit card to help you remove the trim above the keyboard where the power button is located. This trim is held in by clips and will make several unnerving popping sounds when you pull it off. Just be careful and everything should work out fine.

Step 4: Unscrew the keyboard and carefully lift it up. Follow the ribbon cable on the bottom of the keyboard to where it connects to the motherboard. Unplug it (carefully!) and set the keyboard aside. Also unscrew the circuit board where the power button is located and remove that; it is also connected via a cable that needs to be unplugged. Also unscrew and unplug the speakers.

Step 5: Close the screen and turn the computer over. Unscrew all the screws on the bottom of the machine. There should be about 10-15, I think. Make sure to remove the screws stuck under the little rubber plugs along the front of the computer. A couple of these hold the hard drive in place; remove the hard drive. Under the hard drive there are a few screws in the case; unscrew those as well. Look around on the sides of the laptop; there may be a few screws on the sides as well. They need to come out too.

Step 6: Turn the machine back over and open the screen.Unplug the display cable and unscrew the four screws that hold the hinge on the display to the computer. Set the display aside. You may have to unscrew the little circuit boards near the hinges; those are the WiFi antennas.

Step 7: Remove all the screws in the metal plate underneath the keyboard. Also unplug any relevant ribbon cables that are connected to the motherboard and the top case (the palm rest part) of the laptop. The most notable of these is the trackpad connector, if you can get to it. You should also pull the wifi antenna connectors up through the machine now.

Step 8: Carefully lift the top case up, using the credit card to help you unsnap any clips holding it in place. Go slowly and don't force it because you may have missed a screw, either on the bottom or the top of the laptop. Also watch out for any connectors you missed. Remove the top case and set it aside.

Step 9: Unscrew the heatsink carefully. This is probably attached to the fan, so be careful. Also unplug the fan-but be VERY careful when you do this. Once I accidentally pulled the entire connector off and had to resolder it onto the motherboard. Take my word for it, that is not fun. Unscrew the fan, and you should be able to lift the heatsink and fan out to clean them.

Step 10: Follow these directions in reverse to put the machine back together. Go slowly and make sure you don't forget any screws or connectors. If you do, go back and find out where they go.

Good luck!

How to change or open Acer Aspire 5100 Notebook's keyboard

Keyboard is easy - just turn computer over, unscrew the screws that connect the keyboard to the laptop and then see if there are any screws on the keyboard itself that must be unscrewed. Pry the keyboard off with a small flathead screwdriver, unplug the ribbon and replace with new keyboard by re connecting the ribbon and then snapping it into place and of course replacing whatever screws you took out. Hard drive - you must first locate whereever it is on the bottom of the notebook, unscrew those screws, take it out and reconnect new one. REMEMBER to take out battery during this whole procedure and put a cloth over the LCD screen so you wont scratch it up.
