If you look at the coil you will see small wires on either side. One side is a ground and the other is power. Depending on the brand of outdrive you have the wires are color coded.

You should be able to see the color of the wires on the "Plus" side at the coil. Then follow the wiring loom back to the switches hanging by the shift cables on the engine. There are also wires on the UP/DOWN safety switches of the outdrive.

The outdrive must be down somewhat for the safety switches to release the ignition LOCKOUT. This is done because the driveshaft will snap if you start the motor with the outdrive up. Look for matching color coded wires to match the small hot coil wires.

The switches on the shift cables will LOCKOUT the starter solenoid so you can only START in neutral. Look for the color coded wires from the coil to see if they are on the correct set of switches. It is possible someone made a redundant connection and combined the ignition with the starter cutoff.

Trim motor will not work on my 1998 sea ray 100 horse power boat

CHECK YOU HAVE POWER TO THE MOTOR USING A TEST METER OR A BULB.

If you have power to it remove it, strip it down and see if you can see what is wrong, or take the unit to a marine engineer.

Loading back on traiker

Float on style trailers are designed with immersions depths and vertical guides to allow the boat to be driven onto the trailer. But not at full throttle, only enough power to move the boat over the bottom rollers/guides. Some trailers are designed to have the boat winched onto the trailer. For this style, you drive to boat to a starting point and then use the winch to pull the boat the remaining distance. These sometimes have a release mechanism and hinge/pivot point to allow the back of the trailer to drop below the normal towing position to make recovery easier. As the boat is winched into position, the weight of the boat will cause the trailor to pivot and return to the towing position.
