Delonghi EAM3200 not working

I bought my machine on e-Bay. The seller said that the frother isn't working. Am a bit of a handyman so bought it anyway. However on switch-on, the single and dual cup green lights flash for about 10 mins then the red triangle with an exclamation mark comes on steady. Have checked out the cleanliness of the machine and pulled the infuser apart but no obvious problems. I'm thinking a thermal switch has activated hence no heating occurring as evidenced by the cup warmer staying cold. The machine was purchased in Australia, runs on 240 volts and is about 4 years old, having had lots of use, according to the sellers. Any tips please?

I'm in Australia and would rather not ring a DeLonghi USA help line. Does anyone have some advice which gives me a clue to the cause so that I know where to look in the machine without totally dismantling it??

Sorry, but previous answers miss the point or are unsatisfactory. I'm almost convinced that a thermal averload or fuse has gone, which means that on the startup sequence the machine does not preheat, so it goes to alarm mode after a certain time. Has someone out there experienced the same problem and did you fix it yourself? Sure, I can refer to a Delonghi service centre but that's not the point of this website.

I have checked my manual and the solution for the fault indication as originally given is to clean out both the machine interior and the infuser. I have done this with no corrected result. I still believe it's a faulty thermostat or thermal cutout unless someone can convince me otherwise.
Looking forward to hearing from someone who technically knows these machines.
Just confirming: It's a deLonghi EAM3200 Magnifica. On startup the 2 green lights for 1 cup and 2 cups flash as normal. However the strtup doesn't complete and the machine goes into fault mode after about 10 mins. This is indicated by the 2 green lights continuing to flash whilst the red lighted triangle with the exclamation mark inside it.

Thanks Riceski. I might just expose the heating system and do some continuity checks on the electrics with focus on any fuses or thermal cutouts. If all else fails I'll ontact deLonghi Australia.

Well after all that - you obviosly hit it on the head and - - the reason it is hard to make progress is Delonghi keeps some processes secret. The order in which it 'boot's if you will is one of them. Great product. Just simply email them - -Your diagnoses is 100% correct if you ask me and I have a Delonghi sitting in my kitchen now.
Swap those parts out and you will be cooking with gas - errr electricity.
Thanks for letting me help FIX YA

What exactly you tried and doesn't do ...I checked the manual and the red light indicates the steam temperature being ready ..so this also indicates that you selected the steam function...
maybe this will get you an idea..try to see if switched onnormal way will work (no steam function ) ..
I attache the manual here for to be able to look for trouble shooting ...
I also sow that it has a rinse and decalcification function ...it may be an idea to use it ..

Your question: "I have a Delonghi magnifica 3300 that is 7 yrs old. It doesn't heat the coffee very good and the steam frother doesn't work well either. I have always used filtered water and descale i

If heater not working properly ,but still working the heat transfer poor ,probably need to disassemble and actually manually clean heater unit with wire brush till really clean, otherwise replace heater unit as heaters are usually fully sealed. get on line and search for Delonghi magnifica 3300 (parts diagram , replacement parts, parts). then you will have part no and hopefully someone who can supply parts. As for frother if water not heating to enough to make hot coffee the not heating enough to make steam either so frother does not work,if blocked then need to clean out frother tube.
