My gas stove-top's ignitors keep clicking even when one, two, three, or all four burners are on. These ignitors will stop clicking if I unplug the electronic wiring harness, OR turn on the bottom gas oven. What replacement parts should I anticipate to order? ----- Caloric Heritage Series Gas Stovetop and Oven ----- Model #: RLD69-UL

Hi, i had the problem sometimes early this year. My 6-month old GE range/stove top was being cleaned by a cleaning lady and suddenly, the igniters started clickng nonstop. I had to shut down the circuit breakers. I discovered the problem, and it seemed clear that the "spark switches" got moisture on them. The best site which described this is: http://www.appliance411.com/archive/25012_ge_gas_cooktop_not_working_.shtml

Somepeople said you could dry them with a blow dryer, and others said youneed to replace these switches (which is not too expensive, but takessome time/skill). I was hoping against this, so I tried something alongthose lines: I removed all the parts of the stovetop - the grill, the"cap", the metal funky piece, etc. until there was nothing but thesurface of the stove and holes going down to the igniter area. Then, Itook an electric fan and kept it pointed at the stovetop all nightlong. After about 10 hours, I turned the circuit breaker back on. Nomore clicking! And the burners all work! So, I think I essentially didthe "hair dryer" solution, but did it more long term without having towatch the clock to see if I did it long enough. Anyway, I don'tnormally post these things, but this discovery really helped me and Ihope it helps someone else!

Take care

Hoping someone can point me in the right direction. Oven won't light, but the stove top burners are fine. Don't smell any gas or any indication the oven is attempting to light....

next time send the brand name and model number so i can look up your machine,if it's a gas stove most likely it will be a bad ignitor, even if the ignitor glows it still could be bad,if the flame doesn't ignite and the ignitor is glowing change it out,if it isn't glowing pull out the ignitor and check it with a meter, common problem.

Stove top ignitors do not ignite but oven does.

Electric gas igniters sometimes get stuck in one position causing a clicking sound. The clicking sound that you hear is the electric arc that is pulsing from the igniter conductor (wire) to ground (the gas burner). It receives power from the electrical outlet that the stove is plugged into.
Residue from food and sometimes cleaning products may be preventing the igniter from producing a spark (Arc) to the base of the burner. This is a common problem that occurs when the stove has been cleaned or food is allowed to build up. Make sure that the igniter and the burner base are clean and dry. This will help with proper operation. Oven cleaner and a small tooth brush may be used to accomplish this. Another problem with ignition may occur if you have too little (touching) or too much space between the igniter and the base of the burner; it will prevent the burner from igniting. You should only have a little more space than the thickness of a nickel between the burner base and the igniter. A good “blue” arc from the igniter to the burner base is optimal. If this doesn’t work, you may need to replace the electric igniter module. Good luck.

The oven will not light on my Whirlpool gas oven Mod SF368LEPQ 2. The stove top burners still light.

Sounds like you need an bake element ignitor if the bake doesn't work but if the broil also doesn't work, it could be the electronic clock/timer control. the part number for the bake ignitor is 8054129 .Best off to call a reliable service company such as Sears.

Is your stove electronic ignition? Can you here the ignitor clicking as it trys to light? If so the gas valve on the back of the stove for the oven has failed and is not letting gas to the burner. If you smell

Top burners on our Viking work fine, however the

Hi, There is a good chance the ignitor is bad. Even if it glows, it could be weak enough that it will not open the gas valve. It is very a common problem with the gas stoves.
I would change the ignitor.

KENMORE GAS STOVE OVEN LOWER BURNER WON'T WORK

Most likely a hot-surface ignitor has failed. If it doesn't consume enough current, the gas valve won't open. It's usually a fairly easy fix, once you gain access to the ignitor and have a new one to replace it with. Make sure you unplug the range...
