Question about Washing Machines

1 Answer

Water won't stop coming in

Water overflows and doesn't stop when full. Just replaced the belt 2 days ago and had to lay washer down on back to replace the belt. Before that the washer did regulate the water flow.

There is a small clear hose that connects to the side of the tub near the bottom, the other end of the hose connects to a switch in the console behind the knob for the load size, this tube either came off while you were working on it or it got full of water. If it came off simply put back on but do so with the tub empty of water, this is very important!!

If the tube was filled with water, drain the tub and blow through the tube and reconnect.

There is a big chance that you have messed up. As i know washing machines comes with 3-4 long bolts attached at back of machine. Which secures heavy inner parts during transportation. If you didn't attach those long bolts before laying your machine face down, inner pieces might be damaged.

Losing water causing overheating

My first question is make model and year.
Second, are you saying the engine is boiling over into the overflow tank and onto the ground ? Is the tank about half full when the engine is cold ?
Have you run the engine with the thermostat removed to test ?
Usually when you can hear the coolant moving around, you have air in the system and it is not full of liquid coolant.

Maytag Neptune TL washer overfilling

yes i would agree the water valve is defective as if unplugged it should close, but also sounds like a pressure sensor or pressure hose problem that is also defective too due to the fact that it should at least start the wash cycle even though the water doesn't stop filling,so also it could be the central control unit, pressure switch or pressure hose

Frididaire washer error 10 Washer will take in water but doesn't spin or complete cycle. Doesn't let water out.

Hello.

When Washing Machines electronic control has detected a condition then it indicate by showinh error code which needs to check. When you see a code, follow these steps to solve the problem.

However, there are several reasons that a washing machine won't drain or spin. The cause could be something as easy as a clog or something difficult that will need a licensed repairman. Start with the simplest possible cause and work down to the more difficult causes.

Challenging Instructions And Things You'll Need:

· Screwdriver,Flashlight,Voltmeter,Wrenches,Bucket,Rags or mop.

  1. A washing machine won't spin if the water can't drain. Check hoses for any kinks or clogs that may prevent the water from draining. If a hose has kinks, try to straighten out the kinked hose. If it can't be straighten sufficiently, replace the hose. If hoses are not kinked, check for clogged hoses. This can be done by using the screwdrivers to remove the hoses and looking for clogs or running a water hose through the clogged hose to remove the clog. Use the rags and bucket to clean up the water that comes out of the hoses when they are disconnected. Once the clog is cleared, put the drain hose back into place. The washer should drain and spin now if a clogged or kinked hose was the problem.
  2. If the washer still won't drain or spin, check to see if the lid is not closing all the way or if the lid switch is not clicking into place. Close the lid and make sure that it closes all the way down. When the lid closes, the lid switch should click. If there is no clicking sound, then the switch may need to be replaced. Follow manufacturer's directions for replacing the switch. If the lid does not close all the way, visually check for signs that the lid is bent. If bent, try to bend it back into place.
  3. Loose or broken belts could also prevent a washing machine from draining or spinning. Pull the washer away from the wall and, using the screwdrivers and wrenches, remove the back panel. Using the flashlight, visually check for any broken or loose belts. Replace any broken or loose belts. Although replacing washing machine belts is difficult, anyone who has replaced belts on a car , lawn mower or even a bicycle chain should be able to accomplish the task.
  4. Another possibility for a washing machine to not spin or drain is the pump. With the back panel still off the washer, check the pump with the voltmeter to ensure that the pump is getting power. If the washer is getting power, turn on the washer and listen to find out if the pump is running but the water is still not draining. It may be necessary to remove the pump and clean it or to replace the pump with a new one. Once the pump is replaced, turn on the washer to determine if it will now drain and spin.
  5. If all of the above steps fail to produce a washing machine that drains or spins, then it is time to call a professional repairman. Use the screwdrivers and wrenches to replace the panel on the washer and push it back against the wall.

We put a heavy blanket in the washer and the load stopped suddenly with a washer full of water. It wouldn't spin or empty and made a weak sound but nothing worked. We had to manually empty the water....

Usually that means the drive belt is loose and slipping. You should be able to tighten or replace the belt.
To test the belt you have to remove the washer back.

I have a Zoeller Water Ridd'r II Model 48 Sump pump. The pump comes on okay, but will nit shutoff. The float is not impededd, it's just laying on the bottom of the sump. Is this a defective...

If I undrestand your description, when the resevoir is empty, the float lays on the bottom of the resevoir but, the pump doesn't shut off, after water is pumped out? You have to look at this as opposite of a toilet tank filling with water. In a toilet, the water rises and the foat turn the water flow off. In a sump the water will rise, and the float will turnthe pump on until the resevoir is empty, then it will open the system and turn off the pump. If the float doesn't rise, the resevoir will overflow and the pump won't come on at all. If the float rises and the pump comes on but, the float does "not" drop, the pump will continue to run after the resevoir is empty.

This is Zoellers link. I don't see your pump but they do have a support link. If the float rises and falls with the height of the water, turns pump on, then drops "all the way" and pump doesn't turn off, the switch is bad not the float. Make sure there is nothing in the way of the float dropping to it's full down position.

Another flood. GE washer

The water sound is normal. There is a solution in the top of inner tub for balance. Is it overflowing...as in not stopping the fill cycle? If so check to make sure small hose is still attached to outer tu at bottom left front. This dome that it connects to can become filled with scum and causes the unit to not know that it's full. This causes flooding. You can try removing hose and cleaning out with thin wire. Sometime only fix is to replace outer tub. Again, this is only if overflowing!!
Another possibility is a bad break allowing outer tub to spin in agitation. This throws water up over sides of tub. Monitor unit when agitating to see if outer tub picks up speed and starts to spin. It is normal for it to index.
