Thank you for posting your question.

To find what type of audio device you have installed on your computer do the following:

Step 1. On your Desktop, right-click on My Computer and select Manage.

Step 2. You will be brought to the Computer Management Console.

Step 3. In the left column, click on Device Manager.

Step 4. This will show you all the current hardware/devices that are installed on your machine. Scroll down the list until you find Sound, Video, and Game Controllers, and hit the arrow to expand it. You should have your audio device listed there.

Step 5. If you see any device that has an exclamation point next to it, this means that the device is experiencing an issue. This issue may be a bad configuration, or it may mean that the device has failed.

Step 6. if you see any device with a question mark, this means that your operating systems has found the device, but that it is unknown. This can be fixed by installing or upgrading the device drivers.

Step 7. You may even have a device that is hidden for unknown reasons. You can unhide aany devices by clicking on View in the top Menu bar and selecting Show Hidden Devices.

Step 8. On your particular computer, you have an ADI Soundmax card installed and you can download the drivers from the HP website.

My promlem is sound driver

Try the manufacturer of your computer or the manufacturer of the sound card website.

Get online and got to www.google.com In the google search box type: "IBM Support" or "Lenovo Support" (without the quotes and put your manufacturer name before Support). Look for downloads and drivers. Enter your model number and operating system when requested. Download and install the Audio drivers.

You can also try Driver Guide at:

http://www.driverguide.com

Try the AC97 Audio Drivers

Try using VLC as your player. Go to www.google.com and in the search box type "download vlc" (without the quotes). Look for the Video Lan download from site www.videolan.org/vlc Download and install it. It downloads and installs in 3 minutes or so. It's a very fast player, smooth and it can play just about any type of dvd formats and media. It's totally FREE.

I don't quite follow the problem but, you have a low end card and maybe the game is too demanding for it. Are you having problems with crashing? Have you updated your driver? You can update the driver here:
http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
Product Type-GeForce
Product Series- GeForce 5 FX series
Product-GeForce FX 5500
Choose your operating system, language and click search.
You will want to uninstall previos driverbefore downloding new.

A distorted sound is coming from my speakers even if i connect speakers

It is a possibility that you are getting feedback from a device that is near by. Possibly a cell phone or other device. I would recommend moving the computer to a different location and removing all electronic devices from beside the computer, then reconnecting speakers.

It is also possible that you have a bad sound card. If that is the case, you will need to purchase another sound card and replace the old one. I have included instructions on how to replace your sound card below:

Here is a site where you can purchase the sound card you may be in need of:
http://www.meritline.com/laptop-sound-card-usb-port---p-39078.aspx?source=nextaghdac

There are other sites such as Ebay where you can also purchase the sound card. The type of sound card you need is a PCMCIA Sound Card for an Acer Laptop.

Here are instructions on how to install a new sound card:
Installing a PCMCIA Sound Card in Your Acer Laptop
  1. Step 1 Locate the PCMCIA card slot on your computer. On an Acer laptop, the slot may be either on the left or the right side of the laptop.
  2. Step 2 Remove the PCMCIA card cover by pressing the "Eject" button and pulling the cover out.
  3. Step 3 Insert your PCMCIA sound card with the connectors facing in and the upper label facing up. Some PCMCIA cards will have an arrow to make it easier to orient the card correctly.
  4. Step 4 Press the PCMCIA card gently into place.
  5. Step 5 Windows will recognize the PCMCIA card and search for the needed software.
  6. Step 6 If your sound card came with an installation CD, insert it in the CD slot and follow the instructions to install applications and utilities for use with your new sound card.
Installing a USB Sound Card in Your Acer Laptop
  7. Step 1 Turn the computer on.
  8. Step 2 Plug the USB sound card into the appropriate USB plug on your laptop.
  9. Step 3 Wait for the computer to recognize the new USB device.
  10. Step 4 Insert the sound card manufacturer's CD if prompted to do so.
If a sound card is not the issue, then you possibly have circuitry issues on your laptop motherboard. For this issue, you may need to consult a certified technician at your local computer repair shop.

(If you are not a professional or are used to opening your laptop, I would recommend taking it to a local computer repair shop for a certified technician to look at this issue. Do bare in mind if you have a warranty, opening your laptop and not being a certified professional would void any warranty agreement you have with your manufacturer)

No sound

This problem can be caused by several things.
Follow the steps below to solve this problem.
  1. This step only applies to Studio 11 users so if you have Studio 10 or 12, go to step 2 below. Click here to download the Discexport patch that addresses the sound not being formatted correctly on a burned disk. If you download this patch and still have an issue follow the rest of the steps here.
  2. Check is if the disc has sound in another player. Some older DVD players do not like some types of media. Try another Computer DVD player or a set top player and see if the disc does the same thing.
  3. Make sure your computers sound card drivers are up to date. To do this check at your computer maker or sound card makers web site.
  4. Delete your Auxiliary files. To do this, open Studio, and then go to the "File" Menu. Select "Delete Auxiliary files…". This will remove the files used during the rendering make disc process.
Hope this solve your issue...
