Re: Print fade on both left and right hand side
A printer head may be clogged, and needs cleaning which is the most common reason, and happens much of the time from the printer turning on and off, leaving the printer on full time is much better for it, let me know if this helps

I have a HP Color LaserJet 2840. If I am ... My Color LaserJet 2840 will only print on the right side of the page, how can I fix this? ... If I am copying or printing from the computer, the printer will only print the right side of the page. ... something obstructing the laser scanner blocking that side of the media path.
1. Take the toner out and shake it side to side so you even the toner level in the cartridge.
2. If this won't fix it, check toner level, might be low. If low, you need to replace toner.
3. Last option, you might have to replace the Photoconductor Unit.
1.Check for proper driver on evolis site.
2.Check whether both side printing is selected in driver
3.Check for Varnish sensitivity setting in Graphics setting it should be default.
4.Read the ribbon type with Rr command.

I'm not an expert, but I have determined that the vertical bars that are often red, sometimes blue ... and sometimes both ... are related to a bad control board. I've also read that a common fix is to buy a repair kit with includes the ysus, zsus and control boards ... all replaced together. My experience was that after a month or two with the 1.5" wide stripes, that you eventually loose the entire picture and have sound only. MIne comes back, but won't stay working for very long and the stripes are always there (buy used to fade and flicker sometimes). I'm planning on replacing the control board.
I was able to fix it by taking off the top of the printer. This involved taking off 4 screws on the top of the printer. I then had to disconnect the wires going to the control panel by unhooking them from the right side. I then located a thin rectangular box which I'm assuming houses the laser. I removed this with 4 more screws and turned it over. There was a little metal flap that I moved back and below was the mirror the lasers shoot on before going onto the toner.
In the same spot where I was having fading, I noticed a lot of toner on the mirror, so I cleaned it of, put it back together, and the fading was gone.
This was after I tried a new toner and maintenance kit.
