I do have lights and get beeps when I push a button.

  • vbdonna May 01, 2010

The control panel does come on when I push the power button. This is for a whirlpool duet front loader, WFW9200SQA12

  • vbdonna May 01, 2010

The start light does not blink when I press the power button. The load setting light blinks and all other light are on. When I push the start button it only beeps. There are no codes, just the time required for my load setting.

  • vbdonna May 01, 2010

    Part number would be great!

  • vbdonna May 01, 2010

Can you also send the diagram for the washer (WFW9200SQA12) to locate exactly where the door lock replacement is to go? I can not locate all the paperwork. Thank you

  • vbdonna May 01, 2010

The door part link brings up a blank door part page.

Perform the diagnostic test then check the operation of the washer. Here's the tech sheet including the wiring diagram. The door lock and switch assembly is part number 8540772. Check also the door strike with part number W10217552.

Door Lock and Switch Assembly Replacement Procedure

Disconnect power to the washer and open the door then remove the door
gasket retaining hoop by stretching apart the retaining spring.

Gently peel the part of the door
gasket near the door lock and switch assembly off the lip of the right side
of the door opening. Remove enough of the door gasket to access the
door lock and switch assembly behind the front panel.

Remove the screws securing the door lock and switch assembly to the front panel
and slightly lift it then pull it back off the front panel. Pull the door lock and switch assembly out of the washer and disconnect the wiring harness.

Connect the wiring harness to the new door lock and switch assembly and install it back in place behind the front panel. Secure
the door lock and switch assembly and put the eased part of the door gasket
back into position over the lip of the door opening.

    Check that
the door gasket is properly seated before putting back and securing the
retaining hoop around the lip of the door opening and the door gasket.

Hi, Do you have any lights or beeps when you try and start the machine? Does the control panel start when you push power? Thank you

    Thank you.

To be more specific when you try and start the machine what happens? Does the start light blink, or is there a code in the window where the countdown time usually is, or what exactly happens.

Thanks, I am just asking so I make sure to give the right advice.

  • Philip May 01, 2010

Thank you for the details, that really helped me understand what is happening.

Since the door is not trying to latch when you push start and you hear a beep when you push start this tells me that the machine control does not know that the door is closed.

#1 - Check to make sure that nothing is sticking out of the door or caught in the hinge causing the door to not close all the way

#2 - If this is okay try to hold the door closed while pushing the start, if this works it will get you by until repairs can be made

#3 If this still does not work you will need a new door switch mechanism.

I will get you the part number if you wish.

  • Philip May 01, 2010

The part number for the door switch is W10253483, it runs about $35.00 for the part.

  • Philip May 01, 2010

Is there anything else I can do for you?

  • Philip May 01, 2010

This link will take you to an exploded parts view.

    Door Parts

Part number 3 is the part you need. You will need to remove 3 screws (part number 5 on the picture) that are on the front, then remove the spring (part 4) that holds the boot (bellows or gasket) on and you can reach in and pull the switch out slightly to remove the wires that go to it. Once they are off the switch is free to come out.

BE SURE TO UNPLUG THE WASHER FIRST

Here is a link to the technical information on the washer if you ever need that too.

    Hi,

Sorry that link did not work, it must have timed out or something. Here is a screen shot of it. Let me know if you have questions.

SOURCE: kenmore front loader lock door light off washer wont start

It appears your timer/main controller/CCU has failed in this instance.

For replacement parts - head on over to PartSelect.com or RepairClinic.com and enter in your full model number for a full parts listing.
I recommend both sites because ...

FixYa has no affiliation with either site - I have been using and recommending them for years - trouble free.

PartSelect has a great schematic database for locating the part on your unit and great "testimonials" for each part that often times includes HOW-TO information.
RepairClinic has pictures of each part they sell and also a great how-to and troubleshooting for basic repairs.

If your unit has never been serviced - there should still be an original service manual enclosed in plastic taped to the inside of the shell.
In the service manual are Error codes, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting steps you can follow.

Anything too complicated or beyond your scope should be handled by a professional.

If you think you want to tackle the repair - and have gotten stuck on a step - reply to your question and I will be glad to help you out.

Thanks for using FixYa - a 4 THUMBS rating is appreciated for answering your FREE question&&$$##

Good Morning REDS, thank you for your inquiry!

I understand that your door indicates it is open and your washer will not operate. Try resetting the unit by either unplugging it or flipping the household circuit breaker off. Wait approximately ten minutes and turn on the washer. Select a normal cycle, confirmed the latched is securely latched and verify if the washer will start. If the washer will not operate then it possibly have a faulty door lock assembly or a communication problem with the control board. At this point, it would be advisable to contact an experienced appliance repair tech to assist further.

Washer locked. door lock light blinking. start button light on. won't do anything.

IT IS POSSIBLE YOU HAVE A DEFECTIVE DOOR LOCK OR CONTROL BOARD. CHECK YOU OWNERS MANUAL TOO SEE IF YOUR WASHER HAS A MANUAL RELEASE SO YOU CAN OPEN YOUR DOOR. USUALLY YOU CAN ACCESS A MANUAL RELEASE BY REMOVING THE FRONT BOTTOM PANEL AND REACHING UP UNDER THE DOOR LOCK AND FINDING A PLASTIC PULL PIECE WHICH YOU CALL PULL AND UNLOCK THE DOOR. MAKE SURE YOU UNPLUG THE WASHER FIRST. CHECK THE DOOR LOCK MECHANISMS TO SEE IF ANYTHING IS BROKEN AFTER YOU GET THE DOOR OPEN.

Control lock light will not go off.

Do you have any error codes?

Does water remain in the washer after the final spin?
If water remains in the washer after the final spin, then the door will not unlock. Drain/Spin or Spin Only to remove any remaining water from the washer. The door should unlock at the end of the cycle.
Is the door locked and the Add A Garment light on?
If the Add A Garment light is on, then the washer door will unlock after the Pause/Cancel button is pressed once. Pressing the Start button will restart the washer at the same point where it left off in the cycle.
Is the door locked and the Add A Garment light off?
If the Add A Garment light is off, then the washer door will unlock after the Pause/Cancel button is pressed twice. The door will not immediately unlock while the cycle is running due to a possible high-water level in the washer, high-water temperature, tumbling or spinning. It may take up to five minutes for the washer to stop spinning and draining before the door will unlock. You will hear the door click when it unlocks.
If Pause/Cancel does not work:
  1. Unplug washer or disconnect power for one minute.
  2. Plug in washer or reconnect power.
  3. Re-select the cycle and press Start.
NOTE: If the error remains on the display, call for service.
