Sounds like a safety switch houlding ign. out. check all the safety switches by pushing them in to tighten them.

Z225 timing is off

Rarely is the timing off on a small mower engine. You are powered by a 18.5 hp Briggs & Stratton engine. You may have a fuel issue, air filter or even spark plugs. If it sat through the winter with gas in it and not treated gas, it may just be gummed up. Try a product called"start your engine". Follow the instructions on the bottle and see if it is all you need to do.

DTC P0300: Random - multiple misfire detected. Probable cause:
1. Vacuum leaks, damaged hoses, or incorrect routing
2. Fuel contamination (especially if it was sitting during winter)
3. Ignition system fault. Check module, coil, spark plugs and wires
4. Fuel system problem

I have a 18hp b&s vanguard engine, the mower sat up all winter and I'm now ready to use it but it's completely dry of oil, all of it has leaked out , can you tell me why??

Briggs and Stratton engines have a quite common problem with the bolts coming loose over time where the two halves of the engine meet. Most times tightening the bolts will solve the problem, sometimes the motor has to be disassembled and a new gasket installed. This *may* be where your oil went? It would either be that or the bottom seal around the crankshaft. I would add some oil and see if you could see where its leaking at, but if I had to guess, it would be one of those two places.

hi,im elroy, u should change the oil and oil filter,drain old oil and refill with new oil, dont forget to change the oil filter before you refill with new oil.change all spark plugs

Hi Leon, and the usual suspects are:
1. Fuel tank empty
2. Fuel supply valve turned off.
3. Fouled spark plugs.
4. Engine flooded with gasoline as a result of over use of enrichner.
5. Fuel valve or filter clogged.
6. Vacuum hose to automatic fuel supply valve disconnected, leaking, or pinched.
7. Discharged battery, loose or broken battery connections.
8. Loose wire connection at coil, battery or plug between ignition sensor and module.
9. Spark plug cables in bad condition and shorting, spark plug cable connections loose,
or cables connected to wrong cylinders.
10. Ignition timing incorrect due to faulty ignition coil, ignition module, or sensors " Manifold Absolute Pressure" "Camshaft Position Sensor" "Crank Position Sensor" "Brake Apply Sensor
11. Engine lubricant to heavy ( winter operation )
12. Sticking or damaged valves or push rod wrong length.
13. Primary cam sproket spline sheared or missing spacer.
14. Security alarm system not disarming.

Engine will not run. This car sat thru the winter in a unheated garage. I have spark, I have fresh gas. Thinking that the fuel pump was dry, I turned the egnition key to on position with out cranking...

try some starting fluid (either).

Inspect the wiring at the fuel pump (if not in the tank).

Alternately, have the psi tested on the fuel line.

Are you certain there is enough fuel and the car is not uneven (as on a hill preventing a low fuel availability to get to the fuel pump to pump such that it can pump the fuel?)

Another stupid question - have you looked at any of your sensors -- such as the crankshaft positioning sensor?

This should give you a couple ideas anyway..

My engine won't start, only 2 hours of use. Looks like it's flooding.i thought my gas might be bad. Drained tank and filled with fresh 91 octane. Help, jon

if it sat through the winter with the gas in it its probabbly that the carb is clogged. if that is the case then you will have to take it apart and clean it out. the old gas will break down and seize the needle up on the float and not allow it to get gas. try to bottle feed it with starting fluid. take the air filter off and keep spraying it in the intake. if it runs then that the problem. if you need help taking it apart just ask.

Jd tractor 11hp briggs engine has no stark

I would check the stator which is located on the top or side of the motor, this is what produced spark and if there is rust on it it will lose spark. so basically remove the fan housing the top of the motor and you should see it either on top or directly on the side i believe it has one wire going to it green in color and is held down by two bolts. good like look out for the rust

My suzuki gsxr 750 sat all winter and i didnt winterize it at all. the battery died... i charged it and my bike just wont start. It cranks over just won.t start. What should i do?

check spark plugs,check for spark. check fuel is good. possible needle and seat gummed up in carb float bowl. disasemble and clean with brake or carb not change float level. re assemble ,you can use the cleaner to help to fire the motor with a shot through the carb. make sure you cleaner says flammable. good luck.

No fire to spark olugs, sat up for 6 mos, drained

Remove the wire that runs between both coils and try it again.If it starts you have a bad diode wire or a short to ground in the wire or shutdown system.
