8N's have a reserve setting on the fuel tun on valve (located under the hood about midway back. If you leave the gas turned on while the tractor sits up overnight, or longer, the pressure of the gas will flood the oil pan.
Always turn off the fuel by turning the fuel supply wheel all the way to the right...l

SMELLS LIKE GAS IN OIL. OIL LEVEL ABOVE FULL.

If you have a carburettor, then the float needle valve is sticking or faulty.. The carb is flooding overnight and draining down through the cylinders.

Why is oil over full

more explanation?? did you just change the oil? or have you ever added oil? are you checking on level ground? You said its not milky so I take it that it is water cooled so has it had any over heating?? have you flooded the motor trying to start it? smell the oil dip stick if it smells of gas the crank case has fuel in it and now shows its over filled. The only way to know for sure is to drain the oil call the dealer or look in your service manual how much oil it holds and replace the oil with the correct amount then run the bike and then check it. If the bike is running correct it should be fine. Always make sure you are on level ground when checking oil.

if it is you will smell it also it would thin the oil if the oil looks white or tan you may have a blown head gasget do a compression test that should tell you same with lower unit oil if water gets in it turns tan

White smoke from BMW 740i exhaust

white were? the exhaust tip, or other spot, long pipe, name spot?
white, is steam or OIL.
oil smells like burnt oil and takes for ever to dispate
steam is water, and smells , sweet due to 50% glycol inside.
and goes away fast.
but all Gas engines make water at all the time running as a by product of combustion and for sure on cold days, some times full time cold
due to climate effects.
does your neighbors car smoke at same time, (look)
bingo , dew point.

all gas engine smoke cold started, (steam)

so first find out what it is,
take the dip stick out of a hot engine. stalled, drip it on the exhaust
see that smoke ,smell it? that is burning oil
now you know what you have, steam or oil. smoke.

Out of curiosity, pull the dip stick out and smell the stick and see if you smell any gas. If so the crank case is full of gas that has leaked by the seat and needle in the carb and you will have to have the carburetor rebuilt along with the oil and oil filter if equiped. Most common problem is an engine that ether has been overfilled with oil or has an blown head gasket. I make these repairs all the time at work. Check the oil level first. If its OK, find a compression tester and check the compression by removing the plug and screwing the tester into the spark plug hole. Turn the engine over and read the gauge on the tester. Should be around 90 Pounds Per Square Inch (Psi) or above. Could also be a problem with the valve settings if they are Over Head Valves.
Thanks; George

Car overheating

Check for coolant in your oil, you can do this by pulling the dip stick and looking for specs of coolant on the stick, and smelling it. Coolant has a sweet smell. The other thing you want to check is the oil level. If your oil level is higher than full you probably have a blown gasket.

Engine back fires and has gas smell in oil

Sounds like a leaking or stuck open fuel injector might be allowing gas to leak down into the crankcase, thinning the oil.

Sputters and spits, backfires some, blowing oil out of carb, no power, recently replaced plugs ( cj8) did not know the proper gap. oil bad on left plug when removed

sounds like blown head gasket. gap is .030 check oil level first do not screw in dip stick just let it hit top of tube. if over full see if it smells like gas if so your float in carb is hanging open. if not over full do compression test to confirm head gasket

Gas smell in oil

The white strip of fluid on the oil is a slight amount of coolant getting into the oil . The water could be from condensation on the dip stick. I would drain the oil and just put regular recommended oil in it with a new filter. I would pull the spark plugs and check for any coolant or oil residue on them. Then drive the vehicle a little and check the performance. If there is unusual noise from the engine then or blue smoke from the tailpipe the engine has internal damage.

Assuming the engine performance stays the same. There could be a fuel injector sticking intermitantly.
