Redish Pink screen??

Slinte,

Can you please tell me where I can find the red circuit drive and where I can locate the resister switch. I'm not sure where those are. Last night I took off the front speakers and tried to adjust the 3 nobs in the front labeled RGB, but that didn't do much. I seems like everything that is white is showing up red. Also, it seems like the left side of the screen is more red than the right but I could just be seeing things - after you look at the tv for too long you start to think that it looks better but in comparison to another small tv that I have the color is still very pink. If you could give me an idea on where I can find the two things you mentioned trying I would greatly appreciate it. Also when you say if it's not one of those two things and that it is probably the CRT, what exactly does that mean. Sorry I don't know too much about TV's or how to fix them - thank you very much.

Your set doesnt have a color wheel you have 3 CRTs instead. Try turning down the red drive on the red crt circuit board that should help if not check the resistor that is connected to the red drive switch Vasriable resistor(switch) that is probably open if not the crt is probably at fault. If you need more info let me know

The CRT is the picture tube. If you cant control the red alot of times its the picture tube (CRT) that has shorted causing the screen to take on the dominant color of the affected tube.

My Hitachi 51f510 projection tv just started to have a problem with the color. It appears that the tint is red/pink and I have no control over it.

For me to help you (I think I know what is wrong and it is fairly simple to correct) I need to ASK you something.

If you turn the color all the way to zero and go to a channel that is in black and white, what color is the screen?

If it is red or redish a simple adjustment will correct this problem.

Is the picture with color down to zero on a black and white channel (old movies) red looking?

Before you rate this information, let me know what you find. I am in California and will be available for a while.

My TV shows all red picture. No matter what i do. I have no idea where to start. The picture looks really good besides that it is red. Some people tell me its the gun and some tells me its a $5 part....

If your TV looks 3D, warped, or distorted it likely has a convergenge problem.
If however it just looks dull, washed out, redish, greenish, or blueish or if it looks like objects on the screen have halos the fluid in the lens has soured.
You can search google for parts or you can get the parts with repair instructions from sites such as www.TvRepairKits.com

Pinkish Red Screen??

the RGB controls that you found were those the focus or were they the screens? There should be small switches like that (variable resistors) on the CRT circuit boards themselves. The crt circuits are attached to the crts end . You can gain access to them by removing the speaker grille and access panel in front. I am not sure of the resistors number for that model, however these are always brown resistors and and you will see that one leg is attached to the runner right next to that control switch. I will try to locate the service info for that cahssis V18 and repost if I can locate the info.

Colour issues

Sounds like your red gun may be shorted, Try adjusting the red gun down a little see it that helps. You can also switch the blur CRT socket for the red if your screen is still mostly pink then you know for sure its your red tube that needs replacement. If its mostly blue then you have a problem in the red drive circuit.
