Hi, You need to use the net.exe command to establish a persistent connection. To do this, use the following syntax at a command prompt net use lptx \\printserver\sharename /persistent:yes where x is the number of the printer port that you want to map, where printserver is the print server that is sharing the printer, and where sharename is the name of the printer share.

For example, to map LPT2 to a printer shared as Laser1 on a print server that is named Pserver, follow these steps:

  1. Click Start, and then click Run.
  2. In the Open box, type cmd, and then click OK.
  3. Type net use lpt2 \\pserver\laser1 /persistent:yes, and then press ENTER.
  4. To quit the command prompt, type exit, and then press ENTER.
Then on the software you have to configure to print to LPT2 and that should be it.
I hope this helps.

How do I clear the memory from my Brother HL-1440 printer?

Printer memory will clear if you simply unplug it from the wall. More likely, the old document was in your computer's disk, and you can control what prints from there.

As per the printer manufacturer website, Brother Hl-1440 printer is not compatible with Windows 7.

b. Click Properties.

d. Under compatibility mode, check mark "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and select "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)" from the drop down list.
e. Click Apply and then click ok.
2. a. Under "Privilege level", click "Run this program as an administrator".
b. Click apply and then click ok.
3. Install the driver successfully and restart the computer for the changes to take effect.

I have a new HP laptop with Vista Home OS, and I just installed my HL-1440 with a driver that was installed automatically in the "New Printer" procedure in Windows, and it works perfectly.
