Re: no menu & calendar written on lower screen
Sound like the phones software might be corrupted, you can reinstall the whole system, read on...
You can hard reset the phone (Factory Settings) This will reinstall the operating system inside the phone back to how it first was. (internal memory gets formatted then the rom reloads the os back) (Solves all kinds of problems.)
Switch the phone "OFF" Hold "3" (button) + "Green Call" (button) + "*" (star button) Switch the phone "ON" while holding the above three buttons. Continue holding for about 20 seconds then let go.
Please note this will format all the saved information stored in phone memory. including phonebook numbers (if not stored on SIM card). Try to make backups first. You have been "Warned".

In the main screen, before you enter the menu, if you scroll the joystick to the up, you reach the upper profile icon. But to get your old icon back, maybe it's been hidden and you only need to go to your main menu, press the menu button again, and you should see the "Show All" option, if it's selected you can unselect it then you can go back to main menu and you'll see the hidden icons in grey color. When you come over the hidden icons and press menu button, you can select to hide or show them. And when you do the "Show All" steps again and select it again, this time you'll hide your icons selected as hidden.
What you need to do is master reset on the cellphone. You can do it while the cellphone is off. Press and hold the center bottom for about 5 seconds and inmediately press and hold as well the pòwer bottom both together until you see Master Reset yes or no. Remember if your performance a master reset all the data will be delete as contacts calendar etc
Hold down the Power button (Top Right corner) and at the same time put your Stylus pen in the hole where it says “Reset” (Lower Left corner). Hard Reset will delete all data you have put on the device, Programs, Settings, Mail, SMS, MMS, etc., so be careful and make a backup before doing this. After a hard reset, you will have a complete clean new install of Windows Mobile on your device.
Things that are not deleted
Try the following....
Open Active sync on your PC.
Double Click on Calendar.
Change the settings such that it syncs only 0 past and 0 future appointments.
SYNC (this will clear all calendar items on the IPAQ)
Now go back in to those Calendar settings, and set it back to the default which is 2 past weeks and All Future appointments.
SYNC (this will now reload all appointments into your Ipaq)
So make sure that you are displaying all categories....
If while on Calendar screen, you click on Tools, Categories... then all category boxes shown , should NOT be checked. If any of them are checked, then you will only be seeing that category of appointments.
Simple fix for a corrupted Date Book sync error (at least it worked for me on my Treo 650).
1). Turn off 'Show Calendar Event' in the Phones 'Options - General Preferences' menu.
2). Turn off phone.
3). Set the Date/Time to the maximum limits (12/31/31) in Preferences.
4). Open the Calendar and view the maximum day 12/31/31.
5). Select 'Purge - (Delete events older then 1 week)' in the Calendars Options menu.
6). Reset the Date/Time to the current day in Preferences.
7). Hotsync (Desktop Calendar overwrites handheld).
8). Hotsync again to make sure you don’t get the error (Synchronize the files).
The attempt to open the database failed.
Date Book application database is not found. Please invoke the Date Book application on the handheld once and re-synchronize.
- Not Synchronized
Outlook Calendar synchronization failed
Have you setup an EAS account in VersaMail?
The VersaMail application on your Treo 650 supports Exchange ActiveSync, which allows synchronization of Email and Calendar wirelessly with Exchange Server 2003. If an EAS account exists on the handheld the Calendar conduit will disable itself to avoid duplicates.
Go to VersaMail on your Treo650
Select Menu: Accounts: Account Setup
Check to see if any EAS accounts exist on the device by selecting and account, then Edit...
One the first screen check Mail Service. Do any of them say "Exchange Activ..."
If yes you'll need to delete that account to sync calendar entries.
The Menu: VIEW - Categories option at the bottom, has all categories checked off. However, the logic dictates that it will only show the categories checked off, and if any appointment (appointments being made in outlook are not categorized) with no category would not show in the pocket pc. The logic written into the software, is, if no categories are checked off, then it will show ALL appointments. It would be nice if there was an option in the category view menu to SHOW ALL, but there isn't. You just have to uncheck all the categories.
