Take it off flywheel. Leave the pulley in it. Wind it up all of the way and line the hole up with the rope slop and take a c clamp or vise grips and clamp it to make it easier to hold pressure. Take the small screw out with the washer looks like a D shape groove. Take the old rope cut it back to where its fresh rope. Take a lighter and burn it to make it stiff and small. feedit through the shield and pulley, might need small hook or tweezers. Pull it on through spin the rope around the D shape groove to where it fills all in. Put the screw back in and that will hold rope. then take clamp off. It should pull in real quick and strong.

Brand new Echo gt-225 trimmer wont start. What could be the issue?

An engine requires three things to run.
1. A timed spark
2. Compression
3. Correct fuel/air ratio (delivered)
See which if the three you DO NOT have? ...remedy that and it will run.

Have a ECHO gas trimmer SRM 2100 wont start. coulld it be the fly wheel

If it doesn't turn over when you pull the rope it could be in the starter assembly or the flywheel where the starter pawls engage it. If it turns over then you need to check for fuel, spark, air and compression.

On my echo weed trimmer the rope broke on the starter. i took it off and the spring came out. how do you reconnect all the workings?

Recoil starters can be very dangerous when coming Apart!!, And During Reassembly!! Please do not attempt unless you are a qualified and certified Echo technician!

The spring of the recoil is what pulls your rope back in, It is of high energy and can harm you during Assembly, if you fail on any one detail. The most common injury is to the eyes! Use proper eye safety when performing repairs on recoil starters!

Re assembly process as follows,,

How do I fix/replace the starter rope on a TB20CS (Tuffy Troy Bilt String Trimmer) that's broken? Do I need any special tools?

Probably no special tools needed. Take the starter assy off. Turn the recoil in the direction it will turn if you are pulling the rope. When it gets tight, hold it there and install the new rope. When it is installed, let go of the recoil and it will draw the rope in.

Cannot get my trimmer started.

Tom, it sounds like part of the rope has jumped off of the spool. There should be a small piece of plastic with a screw holding the spool in place. It may have worked itself loose.

Starter rope

First, i will take that the rope is in the front. If so, you will need to remove trimmer shaft, throttle assembly, so you will be able to remove starter housing.
