Question about Garden

1 Answer

My Troy Bilt tractor model #609 creeps in forward and reverse. The two drive belts were recently replaced. The problem was also happening before. I assumed the problem was belt related. The first time the mower was used there were no issues so I thought we were in good shape. However, the problem returned with today's cutting.

I believe in your operations manual they suggest for safety sake you set the parking brake ???
otherwise your belt is to short or the disengaging idler pulley that controls the drive mechanism is not retracting completely, check the travel of this mechanism to insure that it has free range of motion

Need diagram to replace tension spring for drive belt

Go to the manufacturersame website, enter in the the model number and look under diagrams for the pic of your tractor. My troy Bilt has 2 belts, one for the cutting deck and the other is the drive belt. I would replace both as the cutting deck needs to be removed and it's fairly simple and will save you time. It sounds let the drive belt is the reason for the tractor not moving. Hope this helps.

My tractor is a 2007 troy Bilt super bronco with a new fresh installed motor.

Sounds like you have the belt running in the opposite direction. You need to Change the way the belt is routed around the pulleys

Troy-bilt riding mower won't move in forward or reverse

I had a similar problem with my TroyBilt 50 inch zero turn mower. Was cutting grass when it stopped going either forward or backward even though it would start and the PTO would move the cutting blades. Turned out the tensioner spring for the belt that drives the motors near the rear wheels had gone missing. Searched the yard where I had cut and moved the machine but couldn't find it. A new one cost me about $7.50. Put the new one on and it worked fine.

Just purchased Troy-Bilt Lawn Tractor from a friend. Can you tell me how to replace loose transmission belt so it will go forward. Belt is loose.

If you have a lowe's store near you they handle troy-bilt so get your model number off your tractor and they can get you the drive belt and a copy of replacement instructions.Thank you.

Had to change the small drive belt that drives the transmission on a Troy-Bilt 42'' 17.5 HP Pony mower. Now it only has one speed forward, slow!! Didn't touch anything-got the OEM belt replacement. Any...

You need to adjust the gas pedal. Info should be in the owners manual. I have it in my Troy Bilt Bronco manual. It say to adjust it in my book after replacing the trans drive belt. Maybe that will help.
