Quite possibly it's the battery. How long have you had the Sansa?

If you want to try replacing the battery, you'll have to unscrew the four screws in the back of the unit and pry it open. One possible source for a replacement battery ishttp://www.overstock.com/Electronics/Efo...

I had a similar problem earlier this month. I opted to get a new Sansa Fuze, because I wanted to be able to use microSDHC cards instead of just microSD cards.

Having received no response in over a month, I assume this is no longer a problem.

Scandisk 1gb

There could be several issues here.

Is the computer showing the Sansa as plugged in?
Does Windows Media Player show the Sansa as plugged in, or does WMP say "Please Connect a Device"?

Are you running Windows Vista or windows Media Player 11? If so, grab the Firmware update from Sansa's website at: http://www.sandisk.com/Retail/DriverDownloads.aspx

If the player keeps freezing while plugged into the computer, you may need to Format the player in Windows Media Player 11 after performing the firmware upgrade. This will erase all of your songs off the player, so you will have to reload them. But your player will work fine after that.

Erases Everything: Connect your Sansa player to the computer and open Windows Media Player. Click on the Sync tab. Pull down the drop down menu underneath the Sync tab by moving your cursor over the Sync tab and left clicking on the little black arrow underneath the Sync tab. Highlight "Sansa 1GB" (wording may vary slightly), and then select "Format." - this should erase everything.

Not turning on

try plugging the usb lead in and dont press  nothing on the mp3 player plug it into your computer it should switch itself on and you should be able to open the file on your computer and see whats on it if this dont work then it is beyond repair if it comes on and your computer can download files off and onto it then its is a battery problem might be that a wire has come off the battery terminal if this is the case and it works when plugged into your computer then it is possible to repair it you will need to take the case off and look at the wires that go onto the battery terminal this is usually the problem but to repair it you will need a small soldering iron but it would be cheaper to get to an electrical shop and they should do it for you for about 5 to 10 pound if it dont work when plugged into pc then ii is beyond repair sorry hope this is not the case good luck hope this is some help to you.............
