Screen Resolution Error Message

I keep getting a message that there is a resolution error - must be coming from my monitor as the pc is 1 day old and this message was there with my old pc - same monitor. It tells me I need the screen resolution of 1440x900 - that is how my screen display is set. How do I disable this message or stop this so it does not keep interrupting me?

Graphics engine error

Hi,

I don't know if you were receiving this error for the same reason I was. I had just purchased a new LCD Flat Panel display and the game absolutely hated the monitor. The resolution I had set for the previous monitor was apparently causing the error that prompted the "/safe" parameter message. Since support dragged their butts in offering a solution, I ended up seeking out help elsewhere online and found this website: http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/wiki/index.php/Main_Page

They deal in solutions for playing a wide variety of games that may not have any support for widescreen.

They offered a most simple solution. The safe meesage appears to come up because the game does not like starting in the resolution you have the game set at.

Their fix is simple. Scrap the "/safe" command that the game is asking you to use.

Go into the game data folder and find the file DATA/ufo-et.ini and then edit the height and width parameters to a lower resolution OR if you are in fact using a widescreen monitor edit the resolution to the default resolution the screen runs best at and then resave the file. Restart the game and the "/safe" message should go away. Worked like a charm for me.

Let me know if this helps

Cheers,

Robin

How to change resolution LCD monitor 22LVWk to 1680 x 1050

Open Control Panel - Display - Settings tab then in Screen resolution move the slide to get the screen resolution 1680 x 1050.
If this resolution is not available the the graphics card cannot support this resolution and you need to set it as close to 1680 X 1050 as possible or upgrade to a better graphics card to get this resolution.

I do have a question, i was using old starlogic monitor (actually i have 2 of them, for now, 1st one is old, the second one is 'twin' ) i bought a pc emachine couple of months ago in april. any way. the...

What I have understood is that the resolution of the Windows is way too high for the monitor. Remedy. reboot in safe mode and when booted, right click on the desktop and select Properties->Settings. It will show you the display settings including the resolution. Reduce the resolution and keep the highest that the monitor can take. You may have to reboot a number of times. All the best.

Resolution notice it says the best picture quality change to resalition to 1024x768 1 exit 2 disable how do i get rid of it

LCD monitors have what is called a native resolution. This is what the actual/physical display resolution is. When you try to display outside of this then you get the error. The easiest way to get rid of this is to set you video display resolution to the native monitor resolution.

If you look at the message it is saying if you hit 2 it will disable the error. To change the resolution in windows you can just right click anywhere on the desktop that is empty. This brings up the display properties. Go to the settings tab. At the lower left is a slider. Just slide it to show the desired display size in your case try the 1024x768 setting then hit apply. The screen will change and a nother window should pop up and ask if you want to keep the settings. If you take too long or say no it just resets to the prior settings. You can change it at any time.

1024x768 is a good setting it is high enough that the display is clean and sharp. And most web pages are designed around this size. Try it not only to get rid of the error but also to see what everything looks like. You can always change it back.

Hi

The message on the screen will be something like

your best resolution is 1240 X680

To clear this error what you will need to do is right click on the desktop and click on properties, you will be presented with a window that says 'dispaly properties' click on the tab that says settings. in this window change the resolution (using the slide bar) to match the numbers shown on your monitor

Please can i ask that you leave feedback and vote if this has been useful

Intstalled starlogic moniter to PC and got error message

Hi,
the "Out of Range" message usually appears when the video card is putting out a video resolution or frequency that the monitor isn't able to handle. You should reboot your computer and BEFORE the Windows screen shows up, press the F8 button once every half-second. THis will bring up the boot menu for Windows. Select "Enable VGA Mode" and press enter. THis will load Windows in VGA mode where the screen resolution will be 800x600 @ 60Hz. Any modern monitor is able to use this. Once you log into Windows with the basic video settings, you can go into the Display properties within Windows and bump up your resolution and frequency as needed.

Error message on new monitor

Hello,

I don't know for sure because I don't own nor have I ever used one of these monitors before but this error likely means that either that there is a problem with the resolution or the frequency coming from the video card on your computer. The recommended resolution is 1280x1024@60Hz.

You can hook your PC up to your old monitor and check the Display Settings. According to the manual for the LG1780U (and many others) 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768 and 1280x1024 should all be acceptable values, although 1280X1024 will give you she sharpest image for this monitor.

If you still need help LG offers 24/7 tech support @ 1-800-243-0000.

I hope this helps!
