HOw to correctly uninstall a norton Product without using windows uninstaller

Well,

there are lots of different types of uninstallation and installation

processes for different types of computers.

Commonly after uninstalling, We should do this... to prepare the computer for installation.

But, this is the most common procedure which mostly is used by Symantec Agents to clean a pc system of norton before re-installing the product again.

Start>Run>%temp%> delete all the files here...

Start>Run>temp> delete all files here...

Start>Run>prefetch> delete all this here too...

sometimes in many cases, some files cant be deleted because it is at the moment being used by another process or program. So, just leave it there. its just usually 1 file or 2. so, you can delete mostly everything inside thi folders. this files are all temporary, so you shouldnt worry about saving this files...

Depending on how fast and strong your computer may be, their are unavoidable instances that the Norton Product still cant be uninstalled ... we then go to the symantec site to download the norton removal tool which works for mostly all norton products.

ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/removal_tools/Norton_Removal_Tool.exe

here is also a mostly used tools for norton products...

the explaination is just beside them.

many thanks everyone!

I cannot uninstall antivir on my computer how do i do it!

Hi, you can remove Norton by following ways:
First: you can try to use the Norton Removal Tool provided by Symentec: http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2007080716270339?Open&docid=2005033108162039&nsf=tsgeninfo.nsf&view=docid

Second: If you want to remove it manually try the below steps:

go to Start --> Control Panel --> Add/Remove Programs.

Scroll down to your Norton program

Click Change --> Remove All.

You will be asked to restart your PC. Please restart the computer.

After restart go to Start --> My Computer --> Program Files. Right click on each Symantec folder and select Delete.

While you are in Program Files go to the Common Files folder at or near the top of the Program Files window. Delete every Symantec folder there. And, again, restart your PC.

Go to Start --> Search --> All Files and Folders --> More Advanced Options. Check each option except for "Case sensitive"

Now type in Norton and delete each Norton folder from the search results (Again, right click, choose "Delete"). One more time, restart your PC.

I have difficulty in uninstalling my nortan antivirus software

Here are the steps to Remove it Fully :

  1. Go to Start --> Control Panel --> Add/Remove Programs.
  2. Scroll down to your Norton program
  3. Click Change --> Remove All.
You will be asked to restart your PC. Do so.
  4. Now go to Start --> My Computer --> Program Files. Right click on each Symantec folder and select Delete.
  5. While you are in Program Files go to the Common Files folder at or near the top of the Program Files window. Delete every Symantec folder there. And, again, restart your PC.
  6. Go to Start --> Search --> All Files and Folders --> More Advanced Options. Check each option except for "Case sensitive"
Now type in Norton and delete each Norton folder from the search results (Again, right click, choose "Delete"). One more time, restart your PC.
  7. Repeat step 5 except type Symantec in the "Search" box.

The next step is trickier: go into the Registry.
  1. First thing to do is Back up the Registry. I'll be saying more about the Registry later. But suffice it to say that the presence of uninstalled security software in the Registry can conflict with newly installed security software and cause system freezes. So can folders of "uninstalled" programs for that matter.
  2. Once again, go to Start, then click on "Run". Type in "regedit"
  3. Go to the top of the Regedit window. Click (+) next to HKEY_CURRENT_USER. Go down the thread until you see Software. Click on Software and scroll down the thread until you see Symantec. Right click on Symantec and choose "Delete".
  4. From there go down to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and repeat step 3. Restart your PC.
  5. Click (+) next to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, now: Click (+) next to Software, Click (+) next to Microsoft, Click (+) next to Windows and Click (+) next to CurrentVersion.
  6. Select the Run folder. Right-click and delete each Symantec entry you see (if present). Restart your PC.
That should completely eradicate Norton Antivirus from your system!

Windows pops up everytime i right click a folder or file!

Hi, It would seem that at one time Symantec AntiVirus was installed in your PC. Part of its protection design is to ingrain itself within the shell of windows explorer. There is a possibility that the program was forcibly removed by folder delete and not through the usual uninstall as you posted. Remnants of the program are still present/active and were not uninstalled. A couple of things you can try: 1. Install Symantec AntiVirus again and then uninstall using the auto/complete option; 2. Install Norton Utilities and run WinDoctor, after scanning, click "Repair All"; 3. Install WinOptimizer and and run using User Defined option, check everything and start, delete erroneous entries; 4. go to Start, Run, type "msconfig" without the quotes, in the Startup tab, uncheck all references to Norton or Symantec; 5. go to Start, Run, type "regedit" without the quotes, in the Registry Editor press Ctrl + F, type "Symantec" in the Find what, click on Find Next, delete all instances. This is of course assuming that you do not have any other Norton/Symantec programs essential to your PC and that you have taken the usual precautions of registry backup, system restore point. Hope this be of some help/idea. Post back how things are or should you need additional information. Good luck and kind regards.
