For ink on the glass use glass cleaner with ammonia, for whiteout, use isopropyl alcohol on a cloth. be gentle.

Black line on scanned copy

If you notice poor image quality in scans, faxes, or copies, you may need to clean the scan lens and the white roller.
  1. Unplug the power cord from the wall.
  2. Open the control panel.
  3. Pull the roller lever forward, and then lift the white roller out of the All-In-One. Note: The scan lens is located under the white roller.
  4. Use a clean, lint-free cloth dampened with water to wipe the white roller and the scan lens.
  5. Reinstall the white roller.

I have a X4270 fax machine. Whenever i send a fax the recipient says there is a black line running down the left side of the page. I changed ink cartridges but it did not help. Can it be fixed?

The X4270 has a pretty straightforward scan path. If you follow the instuctions on this link, you'll find that you can clean the white roller and scan lens with a lint free cloth and water. It will get rid of the mark....unless you've managed to do something ugly like run a staple through the machine (I did that on a laser and scored the drum....that sucked).

If it can receive a perfect fax but the problem is only with the image it scans, then the problem lies with the optical portion of the fax machine. Try cleaning the glass where the fax machine scans your original -- it may just be dirty or there may be some white-out stuck to it.

To clean it, just use a damp lint-free cloth and wipe it down, then dry it and try faxing again. If the problem doesn't change then the issue is underneath the glass -- the scanner's lens or mirror may be dirty.

Hi,

Try cleaning the rollers in X4270 printer. You may need to clean the scan lens and the white roller.

1. Unplug the power cord and the phone line from the wall.
Open the control panel.
2. Pull the roller lever forward, and then lift the white roller out of the All-In-One.
3. Use a clean, lint-free cloth dampened with water to wipe the white roller and the scan lens.
4. Reinstall the white roller.
5. Reconnect the power cord and the phone line.

Next, try to make a standalone copy and let us know the results.

Continually getting paper jams. Not picking up the paper. probably needs cleaning and maintenace. Bought at staples a couple of years ago. Where can I get service. Model is Intellifax 4750

Have you tried to clean the feed rollers yourself?
I would try cleaning the feed rollers before bringing it in for service.
You can slide the paper drawer completely out, and then look under the machine to find the feed rollers.
Usually they are Gray.
There is a chemical that you can buy at your local hardware store called "Goo Gone". This is a cleaning chemical that will clean the rollers and not dry out the rollers like alcohol would.
I hope this helps.
Good luck.
Mac =)

1- did you check the glass?
2- There is also a white metal plate opposite of the glass, if it has a black dot or is dirty it will give you black lines.
