Question about Audio Players & Recorders

Open Question

I have an ITUT-201 turntable that was brand new but I didn't hook up for awhile so it is not warrantied. The platter wobbles and it is not the tone arm.... It is new and under the platter I checked, and there is a small plastic thing with a hole bored in it. The plastic part looks like a push-pin without the metal pin, and it sets on a small metal thing and the band goes around it as it spins. Since the hole is a little uneven and turns unevenly, I think it makes the platter wobble as the band connects to that too. I need another plastic part that is even, not warped and with an even spin(not an improperly drilled hole).....if anyone knows where I can get this or anything else that it could be, please let me know. The company is not responding to me like they said they would at first.... thanks, andrew in Erie,Pa. andrewprussell@hotmail.com or just write note here

SOURCE: Platter not spinning properly

Make sure the platter is seated correctly. Lift it off, and set it back down. Also check to see that there is no debris or foreign matter stuck underneath the platter or where the platter sits.

Check to make sure the platter itself is not bent or warped. Do this by removing the platter (lift up), and then put it on a flat table/surface. Look at it from the side. Is it warped?

Hope this helps

SOURCE: Numark TTX1 Turntable Problem-Platter stops

This is a drive issue. Unfortunately the TTX direct drive system isn't the greatest. It's good, but it's no Technics 1200. The only way to 'fix' this issue is to have a professional look at main circuit board to see if there are any components which are burned, or damaged in any way.

Hope this helps some.

Your center pin is seized. You need to remove the three screws holding the center pin. Then remove the screw holding the shaft in place. Lubricate it with a light grease/oil and reassemble. I used spray lithium grease, but don't know if its correct.

SOURCE: I have a brand-new ITUIT-201

Sometimes you can push down on the platter high side to bend it gently to get it to turn level. Being brand new, you can also return the unit for repair or replacement at no cost. The cost of these things does not justify putting up with defects like this. Good luck!

I just got this turntable, and the platter has a wobble.

First check that the adjusting screws that stop the turntable moving about during transport are fully open.
Lift the turntable matt and move the platter by hand. You should be able to see that everything is OK or anything that looks odd. If you still can't see anything wrong remove the platter. First make a note of the belt fits. Take photo's if it looks complicated.
The platter will be fixed from the spindle. It might have a horseshoe clip holding it. They are tricky to get off, but try. If the spindle has a cover, remove it. If it is glued you can force it off. You can re-glue with Bostick later.
Examine the platter to see if it is bent!

The plate on my numark tt USB is wobbiling

I find it hard to believe some of these answers. If the platter is wobbling, if you remove the platter, you'll find the spindle the platter rotates on. That will probably be loose. At the bottom of the spindle bearing, you will find a nut. Tighten that, and you should be in business. If you have further questions please visit my website at audioserviceclinic.com. Hi, could just be platter not fitted hard down on spindle. I suggest you remove the platter and place it upon a dead flat surface to check to see that the platter is flat. If it is flat refit to turntable ensuring it is hard down on the spindle. If bent discard and replace with new platter.Platters can be ordered for all model 1200/1210 from styluscity@gmail.com

Model PS-LX300USB Turntable Drive Belt

Hi Norman

Normally the belt does not go through any special tensioners or anything of that nature,The belt should go directly from the spindle motor onto the inside of the platter. Hook the belt on the motor section and lay the belt open wide inside the turntable. Next, replace the platter and manouvre the belt onto the platterinside through the two large holes

Wobbly turntable

http://www.vintage-electronics.cc/Sony.html for a new belt and a manual.

Dear Holm,
you might lubricate, the motor, and pin where the platter is turning upon
It's easy to remove the platter by lifting it upwards,
If the platter is wobbely, maybe the pin is not good mounted to the recordplayer.
good luck,

Belt is off my audio-technica turntable at-pl50

WASH YOUR HANDS FIRST! Any oils on the drive belt may cause slippage.

This is from the manual:

A) Remove the record mat from the turntable platter
(Fig. 10a). Through an opening in the
turntable platter, visually inspect to see if the drive belt
is around the motor pulley (Fig. 10b).
B) If the drive belt is not around the motor pulley: Lift
and remove the turntable. Place a thumb into each of
the left and right openings on the turntable platter; and,
using the fingers to press down on the turntable housing’s
surface, pull the platter straight up (Fig. 10c).
Avoid pressing on the tone arm.
C) With the turntable platter bottom side up, place the
belt along the outside wall of the turntable platter's
drive rim, making certain that the belt is smooth and
flat all the way around (Fig. 10d).
D) Put the turntable back on the center spindle, make
certain it is fully seated, and align one of its openings
over the motor pulley position.
E) Through the opening, carefully hook the turntable
belt with a finger or with the original red ribbon (never
use a sharp object) and pull the belt over the motor
pulley (Fig. 10e). Make certain the belt is not twisted
between the pulley and the platter’s drive rim.
F) Put the record mat back on the platter.
G) While holding the tone arm in its rest position,
slowly turn the platter by hand clockwise at least 10
rotations to clear the mechanism’s automatic cycle.

Loose / wobbly platter?

This is a common problem. If you have another 1200 turntable, switch out the platters and see if that fixes the problem. Usually, the problem does not carry over.

There is nothing to screw or tighten. You can install a new SPINDLE - and it should fix it. But might not be necessary if you just swap your platters out.

Good luck!
