Hi,Yes your problem sounds like the DMD board. This is how it works: http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/dlp1.htm Basically the light of the lamp goes through a tunnel that carries a color wheel(rotating disc with a gamma of colors that creates the colors on your tv)then the light of the lamp goes through the DMD board which is a chip composed of around 2 million pixels that creates the images and colors. When it starts to fail it will create black bars, pixelation, color distortion or white dots on screens. Here's a video that will help you find where the DMd chip is located : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0jr_9A5Xd2Q Have a blessed one!

POWER ON BLINK, CARRIER MOVE CONSTANTLY

The encoder strip must have gotten dislodged from its position. Disconnect the power supply from the back of the printer. Open the front cover of the printer where the cartridges are located. Look for two black bands that span from left to right (they should have one serrated side and one smooth side). Just above the black bands there is a transparent strip; this strip is called the Encoder strip. Flick this strip lightly with your finger to make sure that it is running smoothly from left to right. You may need to do this two or three times. CAUTION: Do not pull the strip! Close the front cover of the printer and reconnect the power supply. If the problem persists, you may need to contact Lexmark Technical Support.

If the printer carrier is slamming into the side of the printer, please try the following:
  1. Disconnect the power supply from the back of the printer.
  2. Open the front cover of the printer where the cartridges are located.
  3. Look for two black bands that span from left to right (they should have one serrated side and one smooth side). Just above the black bands there is a transparent strip; this strip is called the Encoder strip.
  4. Flick this strip lightly with your finger to make sure that it is running smoothly from left to right. You may need to do this two or three times. CAUTION: Do not pull the strip!
  5. Close the front cover of the printer and reconnect the power supply.
