SOURCE: dishmachine won't fill

Your problem is as straightforward as your observation, the unit is not getting enough water flow.

First, if your DW water is hooked up with a braided stainless hose, there is usually a screen in the end of it, (check both ends). It gets clogged with debris and chokes off the water. Make sure the line is not kinked.

If that doesn't work, you are likely having trouble with your fill valve. It is under the front kick panel. It has a large castle like upper cap. It is common for debris in the water to make this valve malfunction. It isn't too difficult to open up without removing. Just watch how it is assembled. If you pay attention, it's easy. If you have a booster, the hoses are very brittle with age.

And otherwise, the fill valve may be bad. REMEMBER, verify your supply water flow where it connects to the machine first. Don't assume. You could have a pressure regulator or a line strainer that is part of your supply line. They do fail. But that's a plumber's fix, not a technician.

SOURCE: E4 error after attempting to fill and get to temp

This is what I found for the E4 code...hope this helps...and thanks for rating my effort...The Fang.

Machine won't fill or won't fill high enough(LX18, LX30 display shows "E0," "E2," "E3," or "E4")

1.Low water pressure — check for clogged hose strainer; check that site water pressure meets minimum flow pressures.
2.Make sure probes are clean.
3.No water pressure — main water supply valves may not be working.
4.Drain valve open - turn machine off to drain machine, then on. Repeat twice (this assists in clearing any drain valve obstructions). Wait for machine to reach READY mode and press WASH. Slowly open door several seconds later and note water level. Close door; 30 seconds later, open door slowly and check that water level is the same as it was. If not, repeat the
OFF-ON procedure.
5. Delime machine.

SOURCE: Programming LX18H for TRUE FILL AND DRAIN

The LX18 series was a compromise machine, the lack of a sump heater causes numerous rinse temperature problems due to it's increased water use (over the sump-heater equipped, fresh water rinse LX30 series).

The LX18H can be reprogrammed for true fill and dump operation. If you still need to do this, please let me know via e-mail or post a reply, otherwise a won't post the long answer!

SOURCE: We have a Hobart lx18h

Hello & Welcome to FixYa

P3 error code means open or shorted booster thermistor and needs replacement. To replace this part# bottom panel comes apart with the unit unplugged and then you can remove the booster and install the thermister & booster as well if bad. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

Hobart lx18h fills heats water runs cycle but does not get dishes clean

Hi, there is a build up of junk and mold behind the filter screen and under the cover at the bottom of the dishwasher where you will also find standing water that was not draining.
Clean it up and your dishes will come out clean..

I have a hobart lxih that fill runs once and steam comes out on rinse than flashes P3

Probably a bad booster tank termperature probe (thermistor). This is threaded into the booster heater and has two small black wires entering it.

The following procedure will result in a some water coming out of the booster heater. Allow the booster heater to completely cool, and shut off the circuit breaker for the dishwasher before proceding.

Prepare a new temp. probe with teflon tape, then unscrew the old probe from the booster heater and quickly install the new probe. Assuming the heater is cooled, you can hold your finger over the hole vacated by the old probe to prevent excessive water from pouring out of the booster heater.

E5 keeps coming up and now it smells like burt rubber

E5 is water at top probe when starting rinse. If you have burnt smell, it's probably the sump heater on with little or no water over it. Clean and check the 3 probes and their connectors.

E5 everytime we run the wash

Try running the drain hose into a bucket next to the machine. If it drains Ok, look for the restriction in your plumbing. If it won't drain into the bucket, look for a closed drain valve, open fill valve, bad middle or top probe, check power at drain connector ( it's DC volts from the bridge rectifier in the top drawer on the relay board.. Basically, water is at top probe at beginning of rinse, or it didn't drain down after the wash. Drain hoses can kink from hot water if not routed well.

LXGH E5 Code

I need to check my codes to be positive. And I'll check them this weekend. But, I believe E5 is from excess water in the unit, and so it won't go into rinse and add more water.

First and most common -- the drain hose, at the back of the unit is kinked. The unit gets pushed back against the wall and kinks the line.

Second, your probes are dirty. The ones in the back right corner detect water level. Clean them with a green scrungee even if they look clean.

Good luck - Mike
