If the igniter clicks then it works, u most likely have a gas valve problem, I would replace this, use great caution when u open the gas line up to replace the valve, there is a huge fire hazard, have a window open, turn the gas off 1st before u start work.

The hot tub Hester will not light up pilot but does turn on and bow cold air

Glenn,
Many things could be wrong. First off, the exhaust fan turns always goes on when you turn on(up) the thermostat. It does that to suck out any residual gas in the combustion chamber. After about 10 seconds you should hear a click which is the gas valve opening to let the gas into the chamber. You should also hear a series of clicks for about 10 sec, which is the electronic ignition firing. If you hear the clicking of the ignition, but do not smell gas from the exhaust, then the gas feed is being blocked. If you don\'t hear the ignition clicking then the computer board is detecting a fault condition by one of its sensors: over-temp, water flow, exhaust fan . These are all in series and if one doesn\'t pass then the ignition won\'t fire.

Igniter is not working

Try removing the igniter. (First turn the heater off) There is a heat sensor rod on the igniter. If it is blackened use fine sand paper or a scotch brite pad and clean it so it is shiney. reinstall the igniter (turn the heater back on) and try it. If that doesn't work the igniter may be defective and will require replacement. I have a smaller A.O. Smith water heater and that little trick has saved me three service calls. Good luck.

Clicking from heater area when ignition is turned on . This lasts for 15 seconds and quits ..Then when ignition is turned off it clicke again for 15 seconds...

This sounds like a radiant heater with electronic ignition. If it is anything like the ones that I have worked with, the snapping noise is the ignition sparking and trying to light. If this is not accomplished, it times out and quits. It sounds like there may be a problem with the gas valve or the orfice delivering the gas.

When i set my oven to turn on, it doesn't heat up. Sometimes I get an oder of gas.

Good evening
First ,a couple of questions. Is this an electronic ignition? Most likely yes,as this problem seems to happen with E ignitions. Open broiler door, turn on oven and look inside .You should observe an orange glow appear .(Small blue flame indicates standing pilot) If yes then wait for ignition. No or partial ignition or some gas release means you need a new igniter.Very common. They do get weak. Inexpensive fix.Couple of bolts and plug.
PLEASE TURN OFF POWER TO MACHINE BEFORE SERVICE 120 volts down there.

good luck

sounds like the part he cleaned should get replaced, have him come back and replace the part instead of cleaning it, we some times clean it hoping to save time and money, but if that doesn't fix it it should be replaced.

Pilot lights up but would not fire up into heating, I have brivis buffalo 85

This is the proper cycle of a furnace and what should happen.

Inducer motor kicks on, it runs for a little bit, about 3-5 seconds, then you should see a bright yellow glow, this is the igniter, shortly after, you should hear a click and the gas should start to flow, almost immediately it turns to a blue flame. Then your igniter should turn off and the blower motor start up.

If the pilot turns on and the gas ignites, then shortly after the unit shuts off, chances are this is your blower motor. It is not starting up, then the heat limit is reached in your unit and the safety shuts it off.

We have a laars lite 2 pool heater , the pilot is lit but the unit will not fire up

With these pool heaters, there are a couple of things that you can try before you call a pro. First, make sure that your gas valve knob is turned to the on position. Secondly, you could have air in your gas line. Cycle the ignition sequence until all air is out of the line. It could also be that your gas valve is malfunctioning and needs to be replaced.

Atwood GC6AA-9E water heater isnt working properly

The ignitor is also a flame sensor. If it's not working to ignite, good chance it's not sensing flame to keep gas flowing as well. Could also be board.

GMP050-3 heater, gas turns on and lights for 5-7 seconds and just as thr igniter goes dim the gas shuts off. after 3 cycles the erd LED flashes on/off at a 1.5 seconds on and 1.5 sec off Gary

After the gas turns on, it is the flame sensor's job to see that ignition took place and send 24v to the gas valve. If it does not do this, the gas valve shuts down as a safety precaution. After 3 tries, the furnace will go into "lockout" and will not let it attempt to start again. The lockout can be resolved by turning off the power to the furnace for a couple minutes and then turning it back on. Sounds like the real problem is a faulty flame sensor not sending 24v to the gas valve. Sometimes they can be cleaned with a piece of sandcloth. This will cure failure to recognize the flame due to carbon build up on the sensor. Otherwise, the sensor will need to be replaced. Hope this helps!
