Question about Kitchen Ranges

1 Answer

I think I vacuumed up a sock with my Electrolux central vacuum. Now there is hardly any suction. Will I burn up the motor if I let it run to try to get the sock to go on through? How do I fix this?

Some of the cooling air might be lost so I would solve the problem before using it.

Consider using a shop vacuum to **** the thing backwards out the way it went in. You MAY need to temporarily remove the bag/container from the central unit while doing this.

Upon powering up suction is low. Needs to be primed with hand on hose intake; then full suction comes back.

Turn the vacuum on without the hose.If this continues the motor may need armature brushes or the motor itself may be burned out...motors are not too expensive,I usually put "Lamb" motors in for around 139.00....Chris

Burning smell

The motor is burnt out. Good news is that most central vacuums are really easy to get into so replacing the motor shouldn't be too hard. I haven't worked on that exact machine but the fault is unmistakable.

My central vaccum cleaner has no suction at all outlets even at the canister. The motor is still working and blowing air out the air release tube. What could be the problem

Check the filter in the tank. If this is dirty, the motor will still run, but there will be little to no suction. Rinse thoroughly under warm water, then allow to thoroughly air dry before replacing into vacuum.
I recommend having two filters in order to use one while the other is drying.

How do we get a sock out of the hose

Put the other end of the hose into the wall so that it reverses the suction if you can..

DO NOT STICK ANYTHING IN THE HOSE

If you can't reverse it you'll need to buy a new hose.

Filtex central vacuum

Check suction at main unit. If it is not good and the unit is empty you might need a new motor. If good there and one of the inlets is open, connect and disconnect the main line at the main unit. If it labors each time the line is connected, there is an obstruction in the line. If it doesn't labor you have a leak in your line.

Give me feed back.

NO SUCTION

If you have no suction, there are only a couple of things that could cause it. As you have checked for blockage, and changed your filters, you may have a vacuum motor with bad bearings, or broken fan blades (inside/on the vacuum motor). Either symptom points towards a vacuum motor being bad and needing replaced.
