Try first following these steps in the right order :-

    1. Press the On button to turn the printer off.

2.Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.

    3.Remove all the ink cartridges.

    4.Wait two minutes.

5.Plug the power cord into the back of the printer.

6.Press the On button to turn the printer on.

7.Install the ink cartridges when prompted.

    8.
Do a master reset. Unplug the printer, then press the help and ok buttons simultaneously plug it back in.

If the error code does not display, the issue is resolved.
or 0xc18xxxxx ink system error code displays on the front panel, service the printer.

You will probably need to do the above with a new set of cartridges if you want to solve the problem. In any case replace at least the cartridge who caused the problemDo the above with a new cartridge. If it does not work do again step 8 : Do a master reset. Unplug the printer, then press the help and ok buttons simultaneously plug it back in.
If still does not work contact HP. in yur area. They will ask you to repeat procedure above. If it does not work and printer is under warrantee they may offer to replace your printer.

The reset procedure is similar for all HP photosmart series. For example Here is the procedure for a photosmart 3310. You need to hold down . the OK, Cancel, Black (or OK, Cancel, Black, and Color buttons) until the printer turns off. You may need to try this several times with new cartridges before it works.
Let me know how it goes .

Before going to service try also doing reset with back your old set of cartridges, if only error you get is out of ink, you can get a new set of cartridges. This error is caused either from a faulty cartridge or from a defective sensor inside the printer.
If all this does not work contact service.

I no longer have my manual, how do I change the ink cartridges for the HP Officejet 6300 all-in-one?

To replace the print cartridges
1. Make sure the HP All-in-One is on.
Caution If the HP All-in-One is off when you open the print cartridge door
to access the print cartridges, the HP All-in-One will not release the
cartridges for changing. You might damage the HP All-in-One if the print
cartridges are not docked safely on the right side when you try to remove
them.
2. Open the print cartridge door.
The print carriage moves to the far right side of the HP All-in-One.
3. Wait until the print carriage is idle and silent, and then lightly press down on a
print cartridge to release it.
If you are replacing the tri-color print cartridge, remove the print cartridge from the
slot on the left.
If you are replacing the black or photo print cartridge, remove the print cartridge
from the slot on the right.
4. Pull the print cartridge toward you out of its slot.
5. If you are removing the black print cartridge in order to install the photo print
cartridge, store the black print cartridge in the print cartridge protector or an
airtight plastic container.
If you are removing the print cartridge because it is low or out of ink, recycle the
print cartridge. The HP Inkjet Supplies Recycling Program is available in many
countries/regions, and lets you recycle used print cartridges free of charge. For
more information, go to the following website:
www.hp.com/hpinfo/globalcitizenship/environment/recycle/inkjet.html
6. Remove the new print cartridge from its packaging and, being careful to touch
only the black plastic, gently remove the plastic tape by using the pink pull tab.
7. Slide the new print cartridge forward into the empty slot. Then gently push on the
upper part of the print cartridge forward until it clicks into the socket.
If you are installing the tri-color print cartridge, slide it into the left slot.
If you are installing a black or photo print cartridge, slide it into the right slot.
8. Close the print cartridge door
9. If you installed a new print cartridge, the print cartridge alignment process begins.
10. Make sure you have plain paper loaded in the input tray, and then press OK.
11. The HP All-in-One aligns the print cartridges. Recycle or discard the print
cartridge alignment sheet.
12. Press OK.

Try to reset your printer it might fixed your problems:
To reset your device do the following steps.

While the printer is on, remove the power cord from the back of the printer, wait 30 seconds, and then plug the power cord into the back of the printer.
If the printer is not already on, turn it on by pushing the power button.
Try printing again. I think it will help you.

Black ink not working

Your black ink printer head might be blocked by dried materials. Try to open your printers maintenance software and execute head cleaning procedures. Try to print a test page after every head cleaning or you may run print head diagnostics. If the black ink still doesn't print, try to use another black ink cartridge and compare with initial results.

Check that your black ink cartridge has ink inside, eventually try a new cartridge , as ink may have dried up in old cartridge.
If you use a new cartridge ensure you removed cellotape from cartrige.
If cartridge is ok, then it is printer nozzle/head for black ink.
In this case do nozzle check / head cleaning in printer tools a couple of times.
If problem persist you may need to check and clean printer's head with cotton and solvent.

Thanks for getting back to me.
Sorry this ain't a solution but it seems to be the only cash-free way to contact you. No problem not solved - though I have tried everything. Dismantled the printer; washed, dried and replaced the waste ink pads; washed the print head; blew compressed air through the print-head sponge; replaced the cartridge 3 times; printed hundreds of test prints. I can't think of anything else to do and so I think the only solution is to replace the printhead (probably not even available) or replace the printer. The latter is looking most likely.

Test page always blurred

It would appear as though the ink cartridges were not securely in place. Upon making them secure my test page printed perfectly thereafter.
All four requirements were carried out i.e. clean/deep clean/print head alignment/nozzle check

Tks for your respons
