Try flipping it over, unscrewing the back panels and pop them off. Take out 1 stick of memory if there is 2, or take all memory out. Then try to turn it on. It will either do nothing but turn on and beep, or it will turn on but show nothing on the screen. Then shut it off and put the memory back in. Sometimes this kind of reset gets past that bios screen. Otherwise your memory may be bad. The other culprit can be the battery. Try removing the battery and starting it with it plugged into the wall. Let me know if this fixes your issue.

Where can I get a touch screen replacement for a HP 8180 photosmart printer. this one has a black blob in it and it still responds to touch to wake up and get brighter but not to control the printer....

These won't be available from anyone but HP.
Call them at 1-800-HP-INVENT and ask if you can have it repaired or exchanged.
Your only option may be their trade-in trade-up program where basically you get a really good deal on a refurbished printer in exchange for yours.
The refurbished printers are in factory condition with full warranty, and often have a greatly reduced extended warranty plan option (always a good investment with these guys).

Frozen computer

Try booting into safe mode and disable some startup items in the system configuration utility window. Another solution is to insert the OS disc and boot to the recovery console and type in fixboot c:

My computer screen is stuck on hp logo nothing including key is responding my computer is stuck on hp invent screen.... it wont go past that, doesnt respond to f8 or esc. HELP

Sounds like a faulty hard drive that is locking up the system. Take out the hard drive completely and turn on the computer and see if it goes past the HP screen. If it does then the hard drive is bad. If it still locks up on you then reseat the memory one stick at a time in one slot at a time. If this doesnt work then you might be having motherboard issues.

Try these things and let me know what happens and I'll help you further.

Display screen stuck on hp invent - buttons don't work

This is apparently a common problem with this model, but HP has not offered any help with it. Mine did it a few weeks ago and I found the solution in another thread on fixya. Follow this link and then open the back of the printer and disconnect the wireless card as described by Maggix. It will kill your wireless capability but let the printer start working again.
