Question about Dell Latitude D630 Notebook

1 Answer

I have a Dell D630 that seems to be working perfectly. Except the battery light is flashing 1 green and 3 or 4 oranges. The battery is showing 95% to 100% charge. If I remove the battery while it is on the adaptor the light goes out. It is flashing on or off of the adaptor. This is more of an annoyance than a problem, at least for now.

If you boot to the BIOS, you can also get a better check of the battery health.

The LED indicator is the least reliable of the battery health indicators on the system.

The answer I posted is from the information on the system.

You can use the battery until it's performance is so poor you decide to replace it. But the LED issue will likely persist until you replace the battery.

Dell latatude D630 is docked/battery flashing 4 red 1 green

4 orange and 1 green can mean a battery malfunction, or it could be an indication that the battery is about to reach the end of its life cycle. When a battery is built, it has a planned expectancy. a date code is stamped in the electronics of the battery pack. as that date code is reached, the indicator lights on the computer let you know the battery (even if its working fine) is considered obsolete and needs to be replaced soon.

My Dell laptop's battery charging circuit faulty.

try to remove your batt and check if laptop works fine with ac adapter alone.

if yes then put batt in then check how much charge you have if you have about 10% then update the bios immediately.

if fails then have the batt replaced.

Go to support.dell.com and download the latest bios firmware to update it. If it still does not work then most likely it is already a hardware issue so you need to contact dell support for the hardware issue.

Dell battery problem

Hi Roy,

Dell, apparently have had some problems with their batteries, as they called back some, including yours.
Goto Dells homepage here and goto -> a bit down this page -> Step 1: Is your battery model affected?

Hope your battery is among these, as you will be able to get a new one.
regards
/Teis

That usually indicates battery is beginning to go bad. Eventually it will not hold a charge and will need to be replaced.

Dell Latitude C610 battery claims its too hot to charge....

The charge light flashing orange-orange-orange-green....-orange-orange-orange-green.... usually means the battery has reached the end of its life and now it needs replacing.

There are three ways to test your battery:

1) If the battery has a button on the bottom of it and a row of 5 leds, then push AND HOLD the button for 5 seconds. The LEDs should all turn OFF, then turn back on showing a pattern. If all five LEDs turn on, the battery is dead.

2) Open the Dell Quickset application (doubleclick it in system tray), go to Battery Meter, go to the battery health tab, and pick your battery. It should tell you there if the battery is healthy or not.

3) Reboot your computer and go into the bios. Pick the Battery tab in the bios. It will list the battery health there.
