Poulan pro lawn mower starts & dies

Poulan pro lwn mower starts, runs for a little while and dies. Could this be the condenser or points? I've flushed the gas, put in new plug, & cleaned filter. Where is condenser located?

Unless this mower is older then i am, it has no points or condenser. It has only a magnito. Sounds more like a plugged up carberator.

If this mower has a briggs & stratton engine, try this. On the bottom of the carberator bowl, there is a half inch nut. Unscrew this nut. Now take a close look at this nut. You will find near the bottom of it a hold that goes stright thur it, and also you will find a hole in the center of it going from top to bottom. This nut is really, the main jet of the carberator. Use a fine wire and be sure all 3 of these holes are open and clean. If these holes are plugged, you should take carberator off and take it apart and clean everything. If the main jet is plugged, chances are, the whole carb is.

First thing is to remove the excess oil. Take out as much as you need to to get to the line on the dipstick. Next, you may want to use a little WD-40 or similar cleaner to spray into the spark plug hole to thin the oil in there. Replace the spark plug and start the machine a number of times until it runs correctly. Using WD-40, remember the term "little". Good luck...Lee

Claen carb an still will not start?

Spray some carb cleaner into carb and try again. If it starts for a little while and then dies, you have spark and your carb is still your problem. If this is the problem clean every little hole using carb cleaner and needle(sewing needle that is). Make sure the carb cleaner comes out of some other hole than the one you are spraying into for each. Sometimes you need to keep the engine running with the carb cleaner for a while(1-2 minutes) by shooting short spurts into the carb just before it dies.
