    When I put a disk in, the screen says loading for about 30 seconds and then it displays bad disk. Every time. And afterwards when I try to open the player back up it says that it's opening but nothing happens. I have to turn on the DVD player and turn it off and then the thing opens up

I am having trouble in connecting the new dvd recorder . I think ,I am missing some thing on the initial set up to receive the channels our present configuration is ... 1.R F cable input to set top box,...

I found your model information on a site which provided something I was going to ask you if I could not find it.DVD recorders need either a digital input from a cable box or a self-contained digital scanner(yours does not have this).So,you need to hook up as follows,External cable into cable box input,cable box output into DVD recorder input,DVD recorder output to TV coaxial cable input(usually labeled ant.)the screw on connector anyhow,you should know what I mean it seems.In this configuration,you should not need to turn on the DVD recorder to watch TV without recording because they usually have a bypass mode when there is no power on the DVD.If you have picture in picture(PIP),you should be able to use the main source to record and switch over to the PIP channel if you do not want to watch what you are recording.Do about a 10-30 second test of that just to make sure though so you don't end up all messed up.Oops.My bad...you do not have PIP.As long as the cable box is tuned to the channel you want to record,you should be able to use the TV's tuner to watch something else with no problem.When doing this on VHS recorders,sometimes the screen would get fuzzy and you would have to press the TV/VCR vutton on the VCR remote.I do not know if a DVD recorder will do it or not as I have yet to buy one,but when you do your test recording,you can mess around with whatever you want to see what happens so you will be fully prepared when you do it.If you need more help or have a problem/question,just comment here and I will get an autolink to your post and will reply ASAP.Good luck! I have a rca dvd recorder+vcr combo drc8320n i want to set up watching/changing cabletv channels on the dvd remote. i have tried buying universal remotes cheap& expensive but they no longer work on my

With cable input connected to "RF in"on rear of unit make sure vidoe input is set to "Tuner". This will show up on the TV screen. Change channels numerically or using up/down arrow keys on DVR remote. Note there is a slight pause between changing channels.You probably will have to "autoscan" for channel setup/etc. If you say your TV set is old; it probabaly is equiped with coax
connection only/set TV channel to "3" or "4". when yot opt to play vcr/dvd it will override your
cable channel selected. Hope this helps!

I need the universal code for my bush dvd player?

TRY THIS. It works on my Philips DVD player: To make some DVD players play disks from different regions. 1. Connect DVD to TV ensuring both are then switched on. 2. Press "OPEN/CLOSE" button on DVD player. 3. Enter "8421" using remote control. 4. While watching TV screen repeatedly press "Select" on remote control until region 9 is reached.  5. Press "OPEN/CLOSE".

Connecting TV to combo DVD and VCR

When you say "can't get the TV to play through the VCR", do you mean that you can't get the cable-stations to play through the VCR to the TV? I'll assume that's what you're trying to accomplish.

The most common way to connect a VCR to a TV is through a coaxial cable, from the port on the rear of the VCR labeled "Out to TV." There should be another coaxial port labeled "Cable/Ant In." This is where I picture your cable programming is currently connected.

Instead, it sounds like you connected the VCR to a modulator (probably thru RCA composite cables, which have yellow / red / white plugs). Then the modulator connects to the TV thru a coaxial cable. This will successfully play the VCR to whatever specific channel (perhaps 2, 3 or4), but the modulator doesn't know of any other signals to send to your TV.

2 possible solutions:

1) If the modulator has a coaxial port labeled "Cable/Ant In" or something indicating "In" at a threaded coaxial port, connect your cable-programming to this instead of the to the VCR.

Depending on what type of modulator it is, when you want to switch from watching the VCR to watching cable-programming, you might have to push a button on the modulator to make the swtich, or you might not. Your modulator might put the VCR on channel 3, and allow the higher cable channels to filter though to their respective stations. Most cable providers will leave channels 2, 3 and 4 blank for this purpose. Try it and see.

2) Axe the modulator. Take it out of the system entirely. Connect your cable programming to the VCR "Cable/Ant In" and use another coaxial cable to go from the VCR's "Out to TV" port to the TV. When you want to switch from watching the VCR to watching cable, press a button on your VCR or the VCR's remote. Usually this button is labled, "TV/VCR."

If this does not help, write back and explain in more detail how your system is currently connected.

I cannot get my DVR4300 to go in to TV channel change mode while recording a program

Why not simply record a channel tuned into the vcr and use your tv remote to watch a channel tuned into your tv? that is how it is normaly done... don't forget a vcr/pvr/dvd recorder has it's own channels just like a tv does... just no screen of it's own the tv has of course it's own channels and in fact does not even need to be switched on in order for your recorder to record a program neither does the recorder need to be on to use your tv

Suddenly cannot record DVD after years

Hi,

Apologies for the delay in response. Your concern was just brought to my attention.

To your recording, based on your second posting (and would appreciate corrective information where applicable), your system is:
  • Cable provider > Cable Decoder Box > Panasonic DMR-E75V > TV (equipment setup)
  • single coaxial cable > yellow, red & white > yellow, red & white (wiring setup).
With your indulgence, a couple clarifying questions:
  • to watch the Panasonic when you play DVDs, to what channel or source or setting must the TV be set to?
  • to record a TV program/channel, to what channel or source or setting must the Panasonic be set to?
  • what is the brand and model of your Cable Decoder Box?
Initially, pls try:
  • play any known good DVD disc/movie. power on the TV and set to watch said movie;
  • without changing anything on the TV, STOP the playing of the DVD;
  • try changing channel on your Cable Decoder Box's remote;
  • pls post back result(s); or
  • do the above steps again but before changing the channels on the decoder box's remote;
  • try changing/cycling through the different input/source of the Panasonic DVD;
  • again post back result(s).
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

Recordes but dont play back

before you can watch a recorded DVD on another DVD player you must finalize the disc. to finalize the disc put the recorded disc into the DVD recorder, when the DVD loads it will show the titles that are recorded on the DVD on the screen
push the stop button it is the button with the square on it. the screen will go blank or it may let you watch whatever tv channel you are on if you have your tv ran through the recorder, push the setup buton a new screen will come up, with the arrow down button scroll down and highlight disc edit, press ok another screen will come up, with the arrow down button scroll down and highlight "finalize", press "ok" it is the button in the middle of the arrow keys
scroll up and highlight "yes" press "ok" the recorder will finalize the disc and it can be watched on any DVD player, just remember when you finalize a disc you cannot add anything else to the disc.
