Make sure the fan that blows air across the condenser is running. If not this will cause the discharge pressure of the compressor to rise and will shut down the unit. It will get worse as the temperature goes up.

Pump cuts off then comes back on a few minutes later


More than likely, your unit is equipped with a protective device which automatically trips the unit should the internal motor temperature exceed a preset limit. Then, when the temperature decreases, also to a preset limit, the device turns the pump back on. The purpose of the device is to prevent burnout of the motor.
Have an electrician use a clamp-on ammeter to measure the current draw of the motor and compare that to the nameplate data. If the meter shows the motor near, at or over the normal Full Load Amps (FLA), investigate that condition. While there are numerous possibilities, the most likely causes are worn/defective motor or pump bearings. Try to determine if the motor is actually running hot. The nameplate lists a Temperature Rise which gives the normal motor operating temperature under expected full load conditions. Quick check:If you cannot place your hand on the motor surface for at least 10 seconds w/o undue discomfort, your motor is running hot.
If the motor is tripping but not drawing excessive current nor running hot, it's very possible that the protective device itself is defective and needs replacement.
Have the electrician check out whatever is used in the motor starter for overload device. Some overloads trip on overload and reset themselves on decrease in temperature. Others must be manually reset. If the starter overloads are not tripping but the motor is, then the problem is almost assuredly a defective trip installed in the motor itself.
Important: If you are not electrically trained yourself, it IS NOT recommended that you attempt any electrical troubleshooting. Hire a pro.

We have 2 IR air compressor Model No. SSR-EP75 that are tripping on high air end temperature frequently. We have monitored the temperature using a data logging system and have not found any regular pattern...


First what temperature is it tripping at ? Have you removed the oil fill plug and visually inspected the oil level. It should be filled to the oil fill plug threads. 228 degrees F is the temp the air end temp sensor should trip the unit at, approx. You need to know the ambient temp. where the unit is located. add 100 degrees F to the ambient and that is what the unit should be operating at. ( ex. 100 + 95 amb compressor should operate at approx. 195 degrees F.) If the unit is tripping at 180 or even 215 you probably have a bad temp sensor. It would be unusual for 2 units to have temp sensors go bad at the same time but it could happen. OK if the unit is tripping at or around 228 check the following: Oil/air cooler - (Radiator). It should be clean on both sides. It can be blown out with air or washed out with a 1200 psi pressure washer. When complete you should be able to see thru the cooler, and have good air flow thru it at any location especially corners. Next the thermostat could be the problem. when starting the unit up cold check the return line from the cooler with your hand. If the panel reads 190 to 200 their should be oil flowing thru the cooler. if it stays cool replace the thermostat. The thermostat should open at 170 degrees F. If you have a temp gun use it to check temps on the 3 lines from the thermostat. you are looking for a 25 to 30 degree drop across the cooler. Last but not least if all looks good and the unit is just prematurely tripping you may have a controller going bad. Sometimes these controllers will trip on some alarm. At first it may be once per month then once per week then once per day then several times a day until it gets to where it will not run without tripping on some alarm. Good Luck.

Microwave runs about 3 to 4 minutes and shuts off like no power to unit but the breaker is not tripped and not hot, then the unit comes back on after about 15 minutes. ???


It sounds like the magnetron is not working properly and the temperature sensor is expecting temperature rise, it is not getting any and shuts down.

Insulating it might work and may be relative. The condenser is the place the where condensation takes place, where refrigerant gas turns back into liquid under pressure. Outside temperature plays an important role in the condensation of refrigerant and if it is too cold, of course, condensation may not take place normally. You need to reduce the flow of air through he condenser fins by disconnecting the condenser fan. Disconnecting the fan will cause a rise in temperature and presure in the condenser that may be conducive to better condensation providing the garage temperature is very cold; the cold air in the garage will be enough to keep the condenser from overheating.

On the other hand, you can install a simple temperature sensor on the condenser fins that can control l the fan. Fan would turn ON when condenser temperature is too hot and OFF when ambiant air around the condenser is too cold. The best temperature sensor is one with a sensing bulb and one that can be adjusted. With a little know how you can solve this issue. It will work if you use the right temperature controller. Remember that all you need to do is o connect the temperature controller on the condenser fan circuit. Provided that you know "Control" this should be easy. Get help if needed.

The freezer temperature changes sporadicaly. It


The temperature would charge due to change of cycles in the refrigerator operation. For example, the temperature would slowly rise if the compressor has shut off. Also, the temperature would rise significantly during the defrost process. A heater is activated at the evaporator coil to thaw the ice that forms there. This heat would transfer to the freezer unit and would cause the temperature to go up.

As long as the cycles are constant, and the temperature does not rise significantly and keep rising for a long period, there is no problem.
