Question about Washing Machines

Cleaning the pump

I have a Zanussi ZWF1421W and want to clean the pump impeller but I cannot remove the cover as the booklet describes. I can unscrew it but then cannot remove it to clean it as in other washing machines I have had in the past. Is there a "filter" to remove to clean?

The filter is part of the screw cover, there is probably something stuck in the filter that is preventing it from pulling out.
Make sure you have unscrewed it as far as it will go anti-clockwise, and try pulling it at the same time to loosen it.

I have a Zanussi ZFW1221W machine and I suspect that the pump impeller/filter is clogged as it has never been cleaned and out and the machine started to refuse to spin and now won't drain. I have followed...

It should come out completely to clean it.
There is probably something stuck in the filter, that is preventing it from pulling out.
Try moving it from side to side as you unscrew it, and keep on doing this until it comes out.

ZODIAC INGROUND POOL PUMP MAKES A NOISE BUT DOES NOT PUMP WATER. WAS WORKING AN YESTERDAY. HAVE CLEANED FILTER, AND MANUALLY TURNED FAN AT THE BACK. STILL NOT WORKING??

If your pool pump is acting sluggish it may simply be a build up of debris inside the impeller. Cleaning it is simple if you know how.
Step 1 - Check the Impeller

You can check the impeller for clogs by opening the clear cover that is on the strainer basket. Then place your garden hose into the basket and turn it on high. The water should disappear immediately. If it does not, you may have a clog.
Step 2 - Turn off the Power to the Pump

Before actually removing the clog from your pool pump impeller you will need to turn off the power to it. Remove the basket and use a finger to reach into the hole behind the basket to feel for any debris. If it is clogged, go to step 3.
Step 3 - Disconnect the Pump and Motor

Disconnect the pump and motor from the plumbing. Depending upon the make and model of your pool pump you may be able to skip this step. The motor usually just slides away from the pump.
Step 4 - Remove the Plastic Cover

Take the pump apart by removing the plastic cover over the motor. This cover generally has several small screws holding it on.
Step 5 - Remove and Clean the Impeller

Once the cover is removed you will easily be able to see the clog in the pool pump impeller. Just use your fingers or a coat hanger to clean it out.
Step 6 - Clean

Put everything back together. Once you have it cleaned out you can put the cover back on and put it all back together. Problem solved.

My wahsing machine is not draining and will nor spin

If it is not draining, then it will nbot spin.
If it is a u/k model, then check and clean the pump filter, usually located at the bottom front right of washer behind a drop down cover or flap.
Unscrew anti-clockwise to remove and clean.

Zanussi washing machine will not empty

There should be a filter located at the bottom right front of washer behind a drop down down cover.
Unscrew the filter anti-clockwise to remove and clean.
If filter clear, then possibly the pump is faulty.
Hope this helps you with your problem.

Zanussi FLE1116w won't drain

It sounds like you need to check out the pump. Remove the hoses from the pump and use a flashlight to look into the suction port on the pump for anything clogging up the works. Also check the pump impeller. This noise that you describe could be the impeller. If any blades are missing or broken or if you can't get the impeller to spin freely, the pump is defective and will need replaced. Hard objects like coins, pins, etc. can sometimes make it to the pump and can damage the impeller blades. Really sorry for your trouble and I hope this helped. Best wishes.

The suction and water flow is greatly reduced

It's possible to wear out the impeller. To remove the impeller: after removing the motor and impeller from the housing, you remove the cover from the electric end. Carefully find a flat on the shaft that usually fits an open end wrench close to where the shaft goes into the motor. Not on the end of the shaft where the spring thing is. Hold the shaft with a wrench while turning the impeller, don't let the wrench break anything. Double check the threads on the new impeller to see if they are left-handed. The impeller should unscrew in the direction of the motor's rotation.
Put in a new seal while you're there.

Zanussi IZ 12 pump access

You should not need to remove anything to check and clean pump filter.
Open the filter door at the bottom right front of washer, there you will see the pump filter cover, unscrew the filter anti-clockwise, and remove the filter, and clean same.
With the filter out, you will see the filter housing, which is fastened directly on to the pump, have a good look inside the housing, and see if anything is stuck in there.
Refit filter, and test.
Please rate my fixya solution.
Thanks.

ZWF1421W Zanussi Wasing Machine

Unscrew filter body and gently, using a pair of mole grips, wiggle and pull the filter body.
If this doesnt work the best option is to replace the whole filter assembly. You do not need a new pump though!!.
PS Cleaning the filter on a regular basis will help prevent this!!!!!

WASHING MACHINE FRONT LOADER

If it's similiar to the F1231 w than i found a color catcher caught between the pump impeller and pump cover. this is located at the bottom right front of the 1235W and flips open. grey hose beside it pulls out and remove cap of hose and drain into bowl.

Tip take wet clothes out of machine to speed up the emptying of machine - this dawnwd on me after a few minutes.

Some more water will come out when you remove the pump cover - screw anti clock wise.

ee pages 18-19 of the zanussi guide for cleaning instructions. I found this link to manual on internet

http://www.manualshark.org/manualshark/files/6/pdf_13638.pdf

or check your own manual for cleaning instructions and remember unplug power first - just in case. you may need to reset your wash to do a rinse again as i got a vibrating sound when i restarted and skipped to spin. hope this helps
