OK I pulled off the rubber connector between the tub and pump and I found $1.33, a washer a bobbie pin, a hinge pin and a bunch of shotgun shot. LOLOL I am running another load now to see if that restricted the flow. THe thing is, it was not spinning on the spin cycle, in any speed. what could that be? Thanks! Tom

  • Tom Strapple Apr 30, 2010

that was not the problem, the pump is pumping the water out but the drum is not spinning on the spin cycle

  • Tom Strapple Apr 30, 2010

I will check the door switch. The machine is a belt drive so there is no coupler or clutch. The belt is agitating the drum through the cycles so the motor and belt are working, just not spinning on the spin cycle. I selected the option to drain and spin and it only engages the pump and drains, no spinning.

OK, it is still not spinning on the spin cycle. the motor is agitating through the regular cycles but not spinning. I have replace the motor control module and still the same. Do you have a wire schmetic for the motor model j52aac-0102 part number 134362800

  • Tom Strapple May 01, 2010

yes and like i say it is agitating throught the whole cycle the drum is spiinning during th ewash cycle but not spinning to get the water out

  • Tom Strapple May 01, 2010

I actually did that with AFFresh and have run it numerous times with just water. No suds in the tub at all now. I was using regular soap....is there something blocked that I could clean out?

  • Tom Strapple May 01, 2010

Also I noticed that there is some water in the dispenser after teh cycle is finished too. This did not happen when the spin cycle was working.

  • Tom Strapple May 01, 2010

    That was all clear.

  • Tom Strapple May 01, 2010

    OK

    I closed the door

    selected the drain/spin cycle

    selected no spin

i do not have a prewash or a rinse/hold button

i think my model is 417.44252500 or 417.44252501

    Idesa?

    Thanks!

    Tom

Do you see any suds or foam inside?

This may sound strange but the excess of suds may be causing it to not spin. Suds can fool the washer into thinking there is a drag on the tub. You will need to run rinse and spin cycles until the suds are gone.

To clean the washer from the residue of the suds they make a product called Affresh, that you can get from the store it is near the detergents. It will clean all the suds and reside away so it spins free.

Use a small amount of HE detergent only in the future to help this also.

Water in the dispenser is an indication that the hose from the dispenser to the tub may be restricted. This may be due to soap build up but I am concerned that there may be something in the tub that is blocking and that could be why it wont spin.

The top of the machine comes off by removing 3 screws from the back of the machine that hold to the top on. Slide the top back and lift off. You will see the dispenser on the top right (looking from the front). There is a large hose that goes from this dispenser to the tub. It will just pull off the tub, look inside that and see if there is anything blocking like a sock or rag.

Try a diagnosis cycle to see if it will spin in that.

Here is how you get into it:

    Close the door.
    Press the Control On button.
    Select the DRAIN/SPIN cycle.
Select NO SPIN by pressing the SPIN SELECT button, as needed.
Push Prewash Option button four (4) times within five (5) seconds. C:00 will show in the display.
NOTE: If Model does not have PREWASH Mode as an option, press RINSE/HOLD.
If the Starting procedure fails, push PAUSE/CANCEL button. Then repeat the starting sequence.

    Hi Tom,

I am really sorry, I was going by the premise that you had a Kenmore HE2 front load machine as it says in the header of this. The 417.xxxx is not the same so the diagnosis I sent you will not work for this unit.

I am going to have to pass on this one as it not my area of expertise, I apologize for not asking you for the model up front.

  • Philip May 01, 2010

I just opened it back up to anyone, if you do not get a response reopen another and in the title or description put the model number that will help guide it to the right tech.

    Sorry about that

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Usually water not draining at all is due to the drain line that is clogged and/ or because of kinked drain hoses that’s attached to the Drain Pump. In many washers, a small sock or other piece of clothing can get between the clothes tub and the outer tub that holds the water. If the clothing gets between the tubs, it may then get into the drain hose that's attached to the pump--or even into the pump itself. If it's in the pump, you need to remove the hoses from the pump and pull the item out. To remove the sock from the outer tub port, open the washer's main access panel and remove the large-diameter rubber hose that connects the pump to the bottom of the outer tub. Then, using needle-nose pliers try to grab and remove the clothing through the port. Sometimes you can't remove the stuck clothing from below. Then you have to remove the agitator, top of the outer drum shield, and inner clothes tub. If you think that this isn't easy to do--and you may need special tools—then you might be happier getting a qualified appliance repair technician to do the job. If the drain line isn't plugged, the problem may be with your pump. Even if the pump appears to be turning, the internal impeller may be broken. If so, you need to replace the pump. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks

Tom as the water was unable to drain it could be the reason behind the washer not spinning. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

If your washer pumps out the water but doesn't
    spin, check these:

The lid switch may be defective. If it is, the
washing machine doesn't spin. The switch is inside the washing machine main
housing near the door frame. Often you have to raise or open the top or front
of the washing machine to get to the switch. If it's defective, you need to
    replace it.

The motor coupler may be broken. Many washers
use a small, relatively inexpensive motor coupling. It's plastic and rubber and
is mounted to the shaft of the motor on one side, and to the transmission on
the other. Over time, the coupler wears out and fails. You may need to replace
it. The clutch may be worn. It may use a clutch to come up to the proper spin
speed. As the clutch wears out, it may prevent the unit from spinning well or
at all. If the clutch is worn, you need to replace it. For this job, you
probably want to hire a qualified appliance repair technician.

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a
    comment for further assistance.

    Thanks

Check that and also check the coupler.

Kenmore front load washer door won't latch lock light on

On some Kenmore front load models, if the black gasket around the door opening is unseated (for example, because you drag some heavy wet laundry over it) the door will not engage the lock and stay closed. This is a feature to prevent the washer from leaking when the gasket is not sealed. To fix it, simply reseat the gasket and the door will close and lock.

Front door would'nt open on my kenmore tumble action washer model #417

This advice is for Kenmore Elite and Whirlpool Duet model front loading washers. If you experience a problem where the door becomes jammed and will not unlock or open, here's an easy way to gain access inside your washer WITHOUT calling the repairman.

1. Remove the lower panel under the door by loosening the three screws under the bottom edge on the front of the washer. HINT: If you prop up the front feet of the washer with some small blocks of wood, this will make access to the screws much easier.
2. With the screws removed, the lower panel should drop down then come off. If the panel sticks, a light tap on either side will knock it loose.
3. Reach your hand up inside the washer behind the front casing on the right-hand side. This is where the door latch assembly is located.
4. At the bottom of the door latch assembly is a small pull tab. This is the manual release for the door. Pull the tab straight down and the door will come open.

Sometimes these doors will not unlock for whatever reason. If there are no error codes being generated, this could have just been a momentary glitch. If you see "Fdl" "DLE" or "Fdu" error codes, these are usually indications of a failed door latch assembly and will require replacement.
