Question about GE Dishwashers

GE Profile Dishwasher won't turn on

Our 2 1/2 yr old GE Profile Dishwasher (Model# PDW9280NSS) will not turn on. About a month ago it stopped in the middle of a wash cycle. It wouldn't start again so my wife unplugged it and plugged it back in again and restarted it. It stopped again while filling with water and wouldn't start again. I ordered a new control module and installed it and saw some flashing of the key pad but it still wouldn't work. I then ordered a new touchpad and installed it but it still won't work. It is now completely dead, no lights on at all.

OK, this may sound silly, but check this out: I ran into a similar situation, and found that the electrical connections, where the incomming power connects to the dishwasher, were bad. The wire nuts were not making good solid contact. When they heated up a bit, the wire momentarily broke contact. Check it by getting to the connections behind the toe kick panel, then holding the twist on wire connectors (one at a time) and give a moderate pull on each individual wire to make sure none come loose. This may not be your problem, but it may be. It is the first place to check after you, make sure you do have power to the dishwasher. (no tripped breaker, etc.)

That was the problem, but it was even worse. The wire nuts had melted and were charred. It looked like it started with the hot wire nut but all three were charred. Any idea what would have caused that. Is it just an extreme case of what you mentioned.

When I installed new wire nuts I used some of the sealer that I've used on outdoor connections just in case water was getting into that area when we open the dishwasher door.

10-yr old GE Profile dishwasher...lately there's been detergent left in the cup, and lots of items come out dirty...plastic, ceramic, etc. I've cleaned/rinsed the sprayer and filter, but it doesn't he

Check if the water is getting heated in the dishwasher. Most likely water temperature if not adeqaute will not fully use the detergent and cause dirty dishes. This could be caused by heater which is failing.

Had the power go out in our house. When power

hello. thanks for choosing fixya. honestly I do recommend that you get a new one. By the time you get your current one repaired you will have almost as much money in it as a new one and you will miss out on lots of things the new ones offer now such as: much more efficient use of power, much more efficient use of water, much quieter. and a much better wash. GE profile Dishwasher less then 1 yr old

There is a drain hole in the side (probably) of the garbage disposal which must be manually "punched out" in order to attach the hose from the dishwasher to the garbage disposal and thereby allow for draining. Think of this as the dishwasher piggy-backing on the existing drain system for the sink/garbage disposal. I am certain this will solve your problem.

Look for a microswitch connected to the lock mechanism at the back of the stove. The switch is probably broken.
