Assume that the belt is broken to the power brush /head. Did you happen to smell burning rubber at all when the motor got stuck? The motor may have a reset on it, if it was not operating, but that is not the case, as mentioned. Look in your manual for replacing power head/brushes belt! WalMart sells most types or your local vacuum repair facility.. check the Yellow pages and let your fingers do the walking.. Good luck

Uh70100 got caught in long haired rug, now motor hums but won't turn....impeller or fan seems jammed or broke

Pieces of the carpet jammed the brush, if you can't pull them out from the front you will need to take the head apart to clear the brush.

Brushes not turning

Unplug it from the power source. Then remove the cover and see if the belt is broken or derailed from the motor.

Brushes will not turn on oreck xl classic. caught rug in vacuum and then it will not turn..is there a reset button

If the motor is running but the brush roller is not, then the belt is probably snapped or burned through and needs replaced. If nothing is running when you try to turn it on I would recommend taking it to a service center because you may have burned out the motor. If it is just the belt, that is something that you can do yourself.

While using the power mate rug part I caught a small rug and the vacuum would no longer pick-up .

Check to see if there is a reset button on the head. This protects the machine for times like you described. When something jms up the reset button will turn ofdf th machine. Simply push the reset. Hope this helps, Chris

When vacuuming carpet with the electric power brush it will ocassionly , go to zero suction mode and shut off the brush. I have tried to cause it to happen by playing with the joint areas ( handle to tube...

You gave a good start to giving us good information to help you with solving this problem-- But I need a little more information:

It sounds like you have the Electric Motor driven Power nozzle/ Floor attachment-- am I correct? (Not the type that has a little vacuum motor down at the floor attachment-- Not one that depends upon air flowing thru the unit to power the brush, -- am I correct?)

You can control the motor with a switch at the handle-- correct?

So here is the question: - when you say "the electric power brush -- goes to zero suction" -- what tells you that it 'went to zero suction'?-- the little red flag on the vacuum?-- or what?

I am suspecting something might be caught up in the floor wand-- or at the power nozzle itself-- or even in the flexible hose. Do you know how to take the hose off, and place the hand-held end, in the opening in the Miele Vacuum? Can you do that, and clear out the hose first-- and then the hose with the want connected?

If they are all clear-- we may need to open the floor plate on the floor nozzle, and check for something caught in the air passageway--

Tell us more

Beater bar has stopped turning

All beater and rotating brush bars are fairly easy to get to with a couple of screw on the bottom of your wan. They are driven by a belt and these belts come off, break, or the bar itself is stuck with rug material. Unplug your vacumn and get our screwdriver. It;s easy to figure out once inside the wan.

Carpet setting not working, no brush turn, no light, etc.

if the motor is running, its the belt, if not there is a break in your wire likely in the stub going from the wand to the head

Eureka the boss the brush wont go around

Hey there scrappy13, I would suggest you unplug the unit, turn it upside down and remove the bottom plate uncovering the brush assembly. Inside there should be a belt which drives the spinner brush. If that is in tact, then the brush itself may have been unseated when you pulled the rug out. It should be obvious to find the correct placement. Reseat, ensuring the belt is attached properly to the motor as well as the brush. If the belt has broken, a replacement is available at a registered repair facility. Good Luck!
