Hi,
Thanks for using fixya,
If you are getting FUSER ERROR nine of the ten times you need to change the Fuser.
or..
May be Fuser is hot & stopped working, For that you need to turn the printer OFF for at least 30 minutes, then turn it back ON. This should allow the fuser to cool and clear the error.
Good Luck & have a nice day.

Received fuser error u4-1. Replaced fuser, and still get same error

Try to hard reset your printer. To do this, unplug the cord at the rear of the printer while still powered on. Then remove it the plug from the socket. Let it sit for a few minutes. Then, plug the power cord and then reattach the cord at the back. The printer should power on itself, if not just power it on manually by pressing the power button.

Doing the hard reset should clear off any error messages from your printer's memory.

  1. Turn off the device, and then disconnect the power cord.
  2. Remove the fuser and then wait at least 20 minutes. To do so, complete the following step
  3. Turn off the device, and then disconnect the power cable.
  4. Rotate the locks on the fuser to the unlocked position, On the rear of the printer.

Grasp the fuser handle and pull the fuser assembly from the device, .

CAUTION: The parts on the internal surface of the fuser are very hot. To avoid being burned, do not touch those parts.

Using both hands, slowly and steadily remove any print media from inside the device. Then, carefully reinsert the fuser and secure the locks.

  2. Wait for the device to initialize.
  3. If the error persists, replace the fuser assembly.

My fax is say ' fuser error ' then ' memory received'. What does this mean and how do I clear it? Andie B

Fuser error means the the fuser (the part that heats up and "fuses" the toner onto the paper) is not heating up properly. This usually requires the fuser to be replaced. The memory received indicator is telling you that the machine has received a fax transmission. It can not print it out however because of the fuser error. If the fuser is replaced then the faxes in memory will be printed.
Good Luck and Thank You for using Fixya.

Low voltage power supply

What is the error message you are getting with the new fuser. Is this the same error you were getting before changing the fuser? If you changed the fuser because the old one was just at EOL ( end of life) but did not give you an error, have you tried to reinstall the old fuser.

It is possible that the new fuser was damaged in shipping, or not properly seated.

If both the new and old fuser give the same error message, then yes, I would agree that the LVPS would be the next part to replace, however, if they have different errors, then you probably have 2 bad fusers ( or one that is EOL, and one that was received damaged).

Before changing the LVPS, make sure you follow the steps below prior to the LVPS steps.
as far as where to purchase it if you do in fact need one, you can always do a google and ebay search for "Dell 5100cn LVPS".

I can provide you with replacement instructions if it comes to that.

See below for the actual troubleshooting needed for the fuser.
The following steps are the troubleshooting steps that should be followed for error code 010 397.
First, the definition of the failure is <IOT Fuser Failure>, and means a Fuser Error is detected.

1) With power off, reseat the fuser by physically removing it from the printer, then reinstalling it and locking it in place. Turn the power back on. ( if the error is still present, proceed to step 2 ).

2) If reseating the fuser did not resolve the problem, Replace the fuser with a known good fuser.
( if problem is not resolved, proceed to step 3)

3) Replace the LVPS ( low voltage power supply ). ( if problem not resolved, proceed to step 4 ).

4) Replace the PWBA MCU ( printed wiring board assembly - machine control unit ).

END of troubleshooting.........

this is the solution:
To enter diagnostics: Turn on the power and within 4 seconds press the following sequence: 'Clear', 'Exposure Mode', 'Clear', 'Exposure Mode' (Exposure Mode is the button on the far left). The console will go completely blank.

To enter a code: Select the first part of the code using the copy quantity buttons, followed by the 'Print' button, then the second part of the code followed by the 'Print' button again.

To exit diagnostics: Press 'Clear' repeatedly or turn the power off.

*To clear a fuser code:(14) Enter diagnostics, select '14' followed by 'Print'... exit diagnostics.

H3 stands for high temperature at the fuser.

When you print it cimes on 50.1 fuser error and won't print

Your fuser lamp is not coming on. Reseat the fuser. If that does not help, your fuser will need to be replaced.
