My HP Officejet 6300 All-In_one series will not install on my new laptop computer which has a Windows Vista Business Running program

Our HP printers were running on our Windows XP programs. We have upgraded to Windows Vista and now our printers won't install (Have disc)on new computers. I have not had the HP 6300 for very long so there must be away to overcome this problem or else all HP printers are now obsolete. Have been told that most Companies have a download to overcome this problem but cannot find it on the HP site. We should not have to buy new printers simply because we have gone over to Windows Vista. I am not any computer genuise but it seems that it is simply a matter of having access to a download that will support these printers with Windows Vista or I guess there are going to be a lot of very angry people.

    Regards

Set msi 171f to factory defaults

Normally, you would press F10 or F11 at Startup to commence the Recovery Process..

Another way I have seen on some models is to tap F8, and go to a list of Startup options, and start a Factory Standards Recovery from in there, by selecting the Repair computer option.

Also ask them if it is possible to make Recovery Disk/s from the Recovery Partition in case of Hard Drive failure or System Crash.

They will tell you how to do that.

Each Computer Manufacturer has their own way of making Recovery Disk/s.

Or borrow a proper Microsoft Vista DVD(not Dell, HP, etc).
A proper Vista DVD contains all Vista versions.
The Product Key determines which Vista version gets installed.

There are 2 Vista disks: one for 32bit Operating System, and one for 64bit Operating System.

If a clean install is required with a proper Vista DVD (not HP, Dell Recovery Disks):

Go into your Bios/Setup, or Boot Menu, at startup, and change the Boot Order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the Boot Order, then reboot with the disk in the Drive.

At startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, to go into Bios/Setup, or F12 for the Boot Menu

Save all Data, as it will be lost during a clean install.

Had a windows XP computer which broke and have since updated to Vista. However my printer (hp photosmart ? D7100 or the D7300 series) I am unable to install to be compatible with my new computer. Is this...

The drivers on the HP CD are probably not compatible with Vista.

I would suggest visiting the Hewlett-Packard website, navigating to their Support section, and downloading the new drivers for Vista.

Computer does not recgonize my hp printer, running windows vista home edition 32-bit oprerating system

firstly:
  • have you installed the driver for the HP printer,if not do so.
  • is the HP printer Vista compatible, it should say in the literature that came with it .if its an older printer probably not compatible.
  • follow the installation directions fully ( plug the usb cable in when it asks for it etc).
  • use a different usb cable as it may be faulty.
  • check the usb port with another item such as a memory stick to ensure it is working or use another port.
  • remove any printers installed prior to trying to install HP printer and reboot the system.
hope this is of help to you

I have just connected a HP Deskjet 3940 to my new acer computer and it is not printing. I went in print then options and clicked on a few things but still not working. Have new cartidges in 22 and 21

un install the printer driver, reboot ,windows should detect new hardware ,and then insert the cd that came with the printer select have disc and re-install the software.
if your acer has vista you may need to get a vista driver for it,or worse the printer is not compatible with vista.

good luck

We have a new computer. We used to have our hp officejet All-in-one on our Gateway ME. We were wondering if we could install our All-in-one to our new Gateway Vista???

You'll have to go to the HP site and download the Vista drivers for that printer, but it should work. Install the software first, then plug the printer into the USB port!.
