My system restore function will not restore to an earlier date... I can't remember all the changes I made to my system trying to correct the problem.. I think I will require a hands on repair guy to actually fix the problem...

Make sure Windows Update is turned on. For Windows 7, Vista, and Windows 8 there are Updates that resolve some hardware glitches such as the one you are experiencing.

I dropped my acer 5111 laptop and the screen broke i know how to fix that but the problem is ive tested it linking it up to my tv with hdmi and when it loads up everything is either slow or not loading...

If it didn't go to sleep before you dropped it, then it's not going to sleep after you dropped. It's shutting down or malfunctioning because of something else. You could have caused the memory to shift, or the hard drive to shift or something that happened because of the sudden impact.

How to put my computer to sleep mode

I do not recommend sleep mode for windows because it eventually causes windows files to corrupt because of in proper shutdown, forcing you to do a full install of the operational system.

Where is the sleep button on an HP pavilion dv7 laptop?

Laptops dont have a sleep button per se.
You have to look for a FN + key combination that has the same color as your FN key and probably a figure that means sleep.

Computer re-starts when i want it to shut down or sleep

You should check to see if there is a setting time where the computer installs updates, because the computer may be updating at a certain time and then restarts to finish the update. Check the setting to you might also have the computer restart every so often. hope that this helps.

Don't know how to put my new macbook pro to sleep :P

All that can be done in the aluminium button on the top rigth corner of the body. Try this: go to the blue apple icon on the top left of the screen, and pull down menu, there is the Sleep, Restart, turn off options.

Stand By Shutting off on my HP Pavilion DV5000 using Windows XP

Is your laptop's Operating System Vista? Also, does the laptop completely power off or just go to sleep and nothing you do (touchpad/pressing keys) brings it out of sleep? If it still is powered on, but won't come out of stand by, or sleep mode try this: Go to Control Panel, and on the left hand side click Classic View then double click the icon for Power Options.

There will be a few options under Preferred Plans and one is selected (Filled in dot)

Under the Power Plan that is selected, click Change Plan Settings and on the next screen, click Change Advanced Power Settings.

You will have a new window that opens up with a bunch of categories with little boxes with + signs. Click the + Sign box beside sleep to open op the menu. In the options under sleep, change HYBRID sleep and HIBERNATE to NEVER. Especially the Hybrid sleep as this was a problem I found with Vista. It sounds like the computer is going into the Hybrid/Hibernation and not comping out from it unless you power off the computer and turn it back on

Also, click the + sign beside Hard Disk and make sure the option to "Turn off Hard Disks After" is also set to NEVER
