On the front of your machine, is there a knob that you turn for zig-zag/straight stiching and the other way for darning? There will be an icon showing the stitches

The darning selection will lower the feed dogs.

Depends on how new or old your Bernina is. The older ones have the knob on the lower front left side. The newer ones have a button on the right side you need to push in to lower, then push in again to release them back up.

How do you thread the bernina 1230

You can probably use the manual for the 1260. Sewing machines basically thread alike from one model to the next.

One thing to remember: ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot when threading the top thread! This will help prevent those dreaded thread nests under the fabric.

The jagged teeth on sewing plate are not moving to move the material forward. U will have to look under the machine to check out the mechanism that is supposed to move them and find the part that is the cause of no transmission of power to the teeth assembly.

The sewing teeth were down for quilting, I cant make them come up again for sewing, wheel turns but teeth dont move, any suggestions?

Look at the presser foot and imagine they are at the center of a clock. Now look at 4:00. There is a horizontal wheel (dial) on the free arm that needs turning.

The feed teeth are lowered when you turn the dial on the front of the free arm to the left . Turn the dial to the right if you wish to raise the feed teeth. The feed teeth will raise as you begin to sew.

Look for a switch on the back side of your machine near the needle end of the machine.

Can raise the teeth to the machine

Your manual will tell you where your lever is to raise the feeddog, remember to move your handwheel towards you, never away from you when you want to raise the feeddogs. Also make sure that you have engaged the machine again if you wound a bobbin. My feeddogs on my old machine was on the machine, if you pulled off the extension part to make the machine into a free arm. If, you have problems go to Sears sewing department and they will show you.

I can't be specific, but I had problems with my Bernina Virtuosa 160 automatic buttonholer.
Check the feeddog teeth height. At their highest point, the FRONT teeth height should be 0.05mm higher than the back teeth.
Good luck.

Machine is threaded but the needle will not pick up the bobbin thread. How do I fix on my bernina 65 machine?

Make sure the needle is not bent and is threaded from the front to the back.

The needle should be installed with the flat side of the needle shaft facing the back of the sewing machine.

Lower & raise the threaded needle, holding onto the end of the thread.

Then begin to sew.

If this does not help, then it may be the timing needs to be adjusted and this has to be done by a Bernina repair tech.

If you have a drop feed mechanism make sure you have not dropped the teeth down by mistake, make sure you have enough pressure on the foot, remember you should not be able to pull the fabric through by hand if the teeth are up
