Question about Samsung Jet S8000 Cell Phone
Samsung Jet S8000 Android Smartphone: Battery depletes when not in use, phone is 2 weeks new:
Hello.. Welcome to Android Life.. So this is not the fault of the phone's hardware or software, this has to do with User error. I know a lot of us, we buy something new and not realize that our set & forget settings selections may cause increased battery life until we understand what is happening..
If you keep WiFi on when you are not using it, the phone will keep searching for WiFi where ever you go, even if you are not in range.. this is the same for Bluetooth and GPS. These 3 are the main cause of battery drain. Turn off all the extra options that you don't use, and only turn them on when you actually need it.
Here's some basic battery life tips from PC Advisor:
Make your phone battery last longer
When you first start using Android, there's always some widgets on the phone's desktop.. I bet you didn't know that these are wasting your battery life even if you don't use them. Remove any unwanted apps showing on your desktop screen or put them in folders. The less number of screen windows showing, background colors shown, etc is there.. the more battery you will save

If you use the Facebook app and Facebook Messenger app it will really mess up your battery life. If you don't have to cling to being on all the time waiting in limbo for someone to contact you via Facebook, just log out of the app. Rather, on your own time, check in to the app to see if you got messages, so that Facebook doesn't rule your life or your phone's battery life. Facebook and it's messenger app is one of the biggest social media battery drainers across all devices.
I would also recommend turning off Google Apps Sync and update service.. when you are on WiFi and at your choosing you can turn it back on, so that you control when all your apps update. If they remain on the default setting to auto update.. it will do so at any given time, eating up your precious data limit over cellular, even though you are not on WiFi at home or at your favorite free WiFi hotspot location.

Save battery life by changing your settings
I recommend turning off Google Now Cards, it's a big battery drainer..
How to get better battery life on Android
I do not recommend installing all the recommended battery saving apps suggested in the linked web pages.. instead I will only recommend a few of my daily driver apps that I use:
The on-board screen dimmer is nice, but at night it's still too bright and I like instant one touch gratification, so I use:
To save battery life, this app has a special algorithm that regulates the use of internet access. Use it with it's White List function in the free version to allow one app to be accessible when your screen times out. I use it with Pandora, so that when my screen locks, it is still able to run in the background so that I can listen to music.. knowing that this app won't allow unused background accessible apps to run and access the internet without my knowledge is important to saving battery life.
Using a background with any kind of black in it on Android helps to save battery life. This black wallpaper is not a black color, it's a live wallpaper that does nothing and is designed to save you battery life

The Samsung Task Manager is a good basic app closer, however this app helps to keep my phone running smoothly with a deep clean, allows me to disable certain apps I don't use from starting up when the phone boots up if it is restarted.. If your device runs slow, this could also cause the phone to waste battery life

I also highly recommend carrying an extra battery around (in a plastic protector so that nothing scratches it up or accidentally wets it (it's much easier to charge up a second battery while you sleep in an external wall charger specifically for the battery only, carry it instead of USB charging cable and charging adapter, and even just switch it out to instantly go to 100% when needed rather than attach an external charger to wait for it to charge

(also get a replacement battery for your phone, search for "Samsung Jet S8000 battery" online)
switching out/rotating your OEM battery with a cheap China battery when needed helps to increase your original battery's life over time. So, instead of it lasting one year, it may last 2. Also, this increases the life of your micro USB charging port on your phone, because you will end up using it less to charge your phone.
I usually buy 2-3 extra batteries and keep them charged. Whenever I need to go out, I just grab 1-2 depending where I'm going, just in case.

Hi,the reason why the phone battery discharges,is as e result of the fact that the battery cells are weak/bad,hence the battery is unable to hold charge for a long duration.
the solution to this problem is to get a replacement for the battery from where the phone was purchased,However you should ensure to charge the new battery for at least 5hrs initialy before using the phone at all, this might be responsible for the problem you are experiencing with the present battery right now.
Thanks and take care
