Persistent error code on Sharp AR-162S copier

I see the user manual says contact your SHARP service center immediately and is no further help. But a bit of websearching revealed

Error Codes Starting with "H" are fuser faults.

H2-00 Fusing unit temperature error
H3-00 Overheated fusing unit
H4-00 The fusing unit doesn't heat up

If you haven't got the user manual it is here:- http://www.sharpusa.com/files/cop_man_AR162S.pdf

Importantly it shows how to release the fusing unit. If you cant see an obvious problem then you may need to get a new fusing unit.

You may need to reset the copier to clear the error so it can try starting again when you switch on.

Prints lines on copies. replaced photo conductor unit. didn't make a difference

if you already replace PCU still produce line on copy it could be fuser roller found at fusing unit. if black lines replace fuser unit or if available fuser roller much better but if white lines just clean laser unit. another problem may contribute might be deform frame of scanning section includes mirrors and alignment of lens unit this problem occur usually upon transport of the machine.

The fuser unit does not make contact how do i fix

when you see the fusing unit from the front, you will see on the bottom part of it, have a metal plate with 3 holes. the middle hole is for a screw and the two other are for the pins which are on the machine. now slowly slide the fusing unit inside the machine and see does the pins come out through the holes on the fusing unit. if they do not come out through the holes, then you will need to bend the metal plate or hit it with something for the pins to come out, just be careful to just hit on the metal part. when the pins will come out and the metal plate on the fusing unit will be touched with the chassis of the machine, close the doors the front and the right, and if after that still the machine say that the fusing unit is not set. you have a problem with the connector for the fusing unit. does it is the fusing unit connector or the machine connector for the fusing unit you will need to test. you can spray them with WD-40 as a try.

The copy will print, but parts of the copy are smeared and can be wiped off with fingers leaving nothing on the copy in those areas.

Bad fusing unit. The fusing unit is the assembly that get hot and "fuses" the toner onto the paper just before the paper exits the machine. If you or someone you know is mechanically inclined you could replace the unit yourself. $150 to $180 for the fusing unit.
precisionroller.com has them. Part# R3200
Replacement consists of removing the back cover so you can unplus the wiring. The opening the right side door and removing 2 mounting screws.
Good Luck and Thank You for uning Fixya.

RICOH 1224C COPIES ARE SMEARED

Smeared output can also result when you refeed a printed page into the printer to make a double-sided page. This happens because the rubber rollers that grip the paper to pull it into the printer can pick up toner from the first side’s printing and smear it. So before replacing this is an easy thing to check. Printing multiple pages consecutively will make the pages print progressively cleaner.

Smeared toner also happens because the nonstick coating on the fusing roller is scratched or has baked-on debris. This can happen if the printer is in a dirty environment especially. If you are comfortable removing the fuser, you can try to clean it with a soft cloth and alcohol, but make sure you let it cool down first!

If this does not resolve your issue then make sure the fuser is heating; if not, the thermostat is bad and you will most likely need to replace the entire fuser assembly. This will be pretty expensive to repair so hopefully it's one of those other issues.

the problem is the fusing film of the printer. go to a store and try to change the fusing of your printer. sayedelyaskavesh@gmail.com

Copies are coming out in various shades of black - like its smeared...

Most common cause is a dirty corona wire and or drum. If after cleaning the corona wire and drum the copies are still mostly black and smeared, the drum may be broken. Best of luck.

Faxes are hard to read - they're smeared with ink all over.

Sounds like a fuser issue. Check the owner's manual to see if this device has a fuser. If so, try replacing it. If not, next step may be the drum.
