Question about Dyson DC07 Animal Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum
Cannot get the brush to turn.
Assume that the belt is broken to the power brush /head. Did you happen to smell burning rubber or see small pieces of black rubber? Look in your manual for replacing power head/brushes belt! With the unit off , try turning the brushes by hand and clean them off of debris, etc., as well while there. See if you feel some tension or hear the motor moving inside, indication that the belt is still attrached and if it doesn't seem to have any resistance and you see small pieces of rubber and /or, the band/belt may have just broke from normal usage. WalMart sells most types or your local vacuum repair facility.. check the Yellow pages and let your fingers do the walking.. Good luck

SOURCE: brush not turning
ez...there may be a second belt or the bearings in the beater are gummed up. Open up the area where the beater is. There should be a belt in there...if it is broken, you'll have to replace. Before you do...turn the beater by hand...if it turns hard, the bearings are jammed up with old grease or debris. You'll have to deal with that.

Yes I had the same problem on my animal Dysom. There is a button on the top of the dysom that turns the cacuum on. Right beside that button is another one that turns on and off the brush!!! Good luck!!! I accidently one day bumped that button and couldn't get my brush to work but after troubleshooting it, that was my solution.

Remove the plate over the brushbar. Gently clean out debris. Put plate back on,plug in and turn on vac and press brush bar button to reset.

I had the same problem but I found that I had replaced belt incorrectly. After placing one end of belt around pully, it has to be run behind the "belt disengager" which looks like a 1/2" wide metal tab just past pulley. After placing belt correctly I had no more belt, burning smell or brush problems.
