Question about HP Compaq WF1907 Monitor

1 Answer

Compaq WF1907 monitor keeps going to sleep every couple minutes..

I've tried dusting out both fans, all cables and ports. I've tried startup repair, system restore & even set the screen saver power off setting to 'never'. Still keeps cutting off every couple minutes which results in me having to reboot several times just to get a picture. Then its only for a few minutes. My computer operates just fine. Sometimes for hours at a time its ok, then the monitor starts again. Please help !!!!

Sounds like the backlight may be on its way out.

Put a large font single word onto the screen in a high contrast such as white on black. Get the monitor near a window if possible, and the next time the monitor seems to go off, see if you can still feintly see the image using natural light.

The backlight can be replaced, but it is somtimes so expensive, it's easier to buy a new monitor.

How old is it?

MY MONITOR SHOWS: VGA No signal DVI No signal then shows: Check Video Cable Then: Monitor going to sleep

Try another cable, borrow one, then try monitor in another PC / laptop, if it works then either the software settings for the sleep mode are on or it may be a faulty video card.

WF1907 Monitor is in sleep mode - how can i get it to stay on?

If understand your issue correctly , your system and monitor is fine . The only problem is that the monitor switches off after some time.

If after moving the mouse or taping on the keyboard the monitor comes back . Then we can solve the problem buy adjusting the power settings in the OS .

If the monitor doesn't come back on if you strike the keyboard or click the mouse. Then the problem could be with the monitor.

Depending on the OS you have you can disable sleep by going to the following link

Compaq Presario stuck in sleep mode

Connect the monitor to some other computer, e.g., a notebook, and see if it does the same thing. If it does, then the monitor is the problem.
If it does not, then your computer is not putting-out any "video" signal, and so the monitor goes to "sleep".

If you have MORE than one VGA-output port on your computer, connect your monitor to the "other" VGA port.

Or, press-and-hold the ON/OFF button on your computer, to force it to completely shutdown.

This monitor series( HP Compaq WF1907) seem to have a inherent problem with the sleep mode control circuit. You should take this unit into the service center for repair. Hope this helps.

No. HDMI transfers picture and sound, but DVI does not. You need a audio line as well.
