Why is the refrigerator side is freezing food

First some fridge 101, the refrigerator/freezer models cool by directly refrigerating the freezer section and the refrigerator section is cooled when "some" of the cold air from the freezer is directed over to the refrigerator side (typically by a fan) to keep food fresh and not frozen a temperature controlling damper opens and closes to regulate the temperature of the fridge by introducing more or below freezing air into the cabinet. In older models where the freezer was on top the air simply "gravity" drained into the refrigerator cabinet, if the food was too cold you turned the fridge knob up and less air sank from the freezer to the fridge, simple but effective.

When you adjust the temperature level it controls the freezer temperature and this turns the compressor on and off to keep the food frozen. There is typically a knob or lever and some even have electric dampers that open and close to direct more or less air from the freezer and direct it to the refrigerator cabinet based on your temperature requirements.

Now that you know how it works there are a couple things to check. If the condenser coil is plugged with dust the internal system pressure will rise and in some cases make the fridge an over achiever and can chill too much so check/clean the condenser coil. Check the freezer temperature control and turn in up, also make sure the fridge temperature control setting is not set too cold.

Finally as the temperature changes around the refrigerator it will have an effect on the inside of the fridge too so expect to turn it up and down as the environment changes, down in the summer and up in the winter.

Hope the novel helps to resolve your issues.

New freezer model number LFFH20F3QW . We loaded it to capacity with beef frozen after slaughter from locker. It has run continuously since, three days. T

As the beef was already frozen when it went into the freezer it should take just a few hours for the cabinet temperature to stabilise at the temperature the thermostat is set to and for normal cycling to begin.

Checking the temperature is a good place to begin. For the safe long term storage of food, especially meat, the interior should be minus 18 to minus 25 degrees C or between zero and minus 10 degrees F.

If the system isn't cycling because the cabinet isn't cold enough to cause the thermostat to cut the motor off there is something wrong with the refrigeration unit such as a refrigerant leak. Maybe the insulation is damaged...

If the cabinet is colder than ideal the thermostat has probably failed. Turning it down should switch the motor off and then turning it back up should restart it.
Or maybe the thermostat is set too high for cycling to take place.

Buy yourself a quality thermometer and check the temperature - first!

My refrigerator display panel keeps on giving me an h symbol Once I push reset and set the temperature settings back. Within minutes it gives me the h again and will not get back to cold

Difficult to diagnose with at least a make? Am thinking 'H' is for cabinet too Hot, so out of spec to the set temperature. If that is the case you need a technician as it probably needs topping up with refrigerant gas.

My magic chef mini fridge jumps from 55 to 49 degrees and it's set at 41. What can the problem be?

The first and simplest cause of unstable temperature readings occurs whenever people open the door, which almost immediately causes a change in your refrigerator/freezer's internal temperature. In this case, the temperature recorded by the electronic monitoring system is often comparable to a conventional thermometer located in the cabinet. What personnel often don't realize is that typical mercury thermometers have response times measured in minutes, meaning that it can take 5-10 minutes for the temperature shown on the thermometer to stabilize at the new value after a rapid temperature change.

A second source of temperature variation arises from the normal cycling of the compressor used to cool the refrigerator/freezer. Again, if the temperature displayed by your thermometer is being compared to the temperature reported by your electronic monitoring system, the response time of the thermometer may be masking the actual temperature fluctuations in the cabinet.

The final cause is due to electrical noise in the temperature monitoring system. This can often be identified from the temperature data in the form of random jumps in temperature from 0.5 to 5 degrees or more happening over a very short time period (such as seconds). The most common cause of electrical noise is the placement of wires from the sensor.

Refrigerator condensation inside

Whether on the outside of the cabinet or the inside it is because you have warm moist air hitting the coldness of the refrigeration. It can also happen if you put hot food into the cabinet.

Also at the back of the inside of the cabinet there is often a small drain that empties the water from the defrost cycles. Check that they are clear.

I still have not been given an answer to my question.

Plastic is brittle and the changes of temperature makes it even more brittle. While it isn't a common occurence, it does happen in the models with the thin plastic shells. I have normally seen that happen when the condenser grill (under the cabinet) is extremely dirty so the compressor can't discharge the coolant heat fast enough and then the cabinet exterior (especially on the right side) gets hot. The high exterior temperature and the cool to cold temperature on the inside, will cause cracking.

How to make the kegerator colder

From the operators Manual page 14:

Each depression of the up or down arrow will
increase or decrease the temperature
incrementally by 1º (F/C) until the desired setting
is reached. The temperature can be set between
36-46º F (2-8º C).

Danby Phone:

*Note: the display will flash for 5 seconds from
the time the last button was activated before
resuming display of the internal temperature of
the cabinet.

Refrigerator temperature climbs and takes too long to recover.

Look at following areas for the model number
  • Beneath Or Inside Food Compartment On Cabinet Frame
  • On Plate Lower Front Or Rear Of Cabinet
  • Beside Compressor Door On Right End
  • Near Rear Of Cabinet
  • Inside Liner At Top

Interior refrigerator lights (2 bulbs at top of cabinet)

Did you try tightening the light bulbs? Try changing them. Then, check the spring mechanisms in the side of the door - perhaps they are stuck shut (these are the clips or buttons that control the light). Maybe it is a problem with the alarm?

Cooler wont cool below 48 degrees.

Keep a thermometer handy. (adjust temperature control knob accordingly)
Periodically monitor temperatures inside your cooler. (adjust as necessary)
Keep the refrigerator door closed as much as possible to avoid temperature fluctuations

The temperature of the refrigerator compartment is
controlled by adjusting/setting the thermostat control
knob, located on the ceiling of the refrigerator
To start the refrigerator, and achieve maximum
cooling quickly;
• Turn the temperature control knob (using a coin
or screwdriver) clockwise to the furthest
(maximum) setting on the darker blue section of
the graduated control dial.
• Allow the refrigerator to run at this setting for 3~4
• When maximum cooling is achieved, turn back
the temperature control knob setting to the 2:00
o'clock position on the graduated blue control
• Correct cooling temperature is a key factor to
consider in storing and dispensing draught beer.
• Optimum temperature for serving draught beer is
between 34ºF ~ 38ºF.(1ºC ~ 3ºC)
• To maintain temperatures ranging between
34ºF ~ 38ºF.(1ºC ~ 3ºC) We recommend the
thermostat knob be positioned at the "2:00
o'clock" setting on the graduated blue control dial.
• To turn off the refrigerator, (no cooling) rotate the
control knob to the "0" position.
