Question about Kenmore 55612 / 55614 / 5561 / 655619 Side by Side Refrigerator
I install a new water filter after a year except I forgot to turn it when I ran the 3 gallons of water through it. I did see no problem with the water. However, when I did turn after running the water through it, it now always seems to have a film of something floating in the newly dispensed water. What do I need to do. I have run about 20 gallons of water through it and it still has the problem. Is it a broken membrane in the filter and I need a new filter(thought I read that somewhere)? I purchased a kenmore side X side three years ago and after hooking it up noticed stuff floating almost like "jellyfish" floating around in the water. After running lots of water the problem never got better. I then bought a new PUR basic filter. still the same problem. Probable should have contacted Kenmore right away, but we have a reverse osmosis system so the drinking was never an issue, until I started looking it up and found someone else that had the same problem.
The problem might be linked ot your reverse osmosis system itself, something about filtering and storing previously filtered water, which if i remember correctly creates a "harmless" bio film the consistency of what appears to be brine shrimp sized particles floating in water. so i would remove the filter from the refig and flush out again.
