Six (6) on board/top screws approx. Two (2) in front near nozzle area and four (4) under water resevoir tank. Engage handle release and lie handle down on floor and take out screws and save (of course) You will need to also unscrew clear water cap from top of on board unit and save and make certain you retain process to put back into position..(cap/spinner/small screen /pin up) Now you have access to the pump/motor, drive belts, etc. Unscrew appropriate screws and detach water lines and note replacement points. from pump near front right area of unit. Good luck!

How to check the location of the pump belt?

Take off belt cover on the left side of the top cover, turn cleaner over, take out screw from red lock and remove, pull cap and brush roll out, unhook the cogged belt, then you can replace the pump belt thru that opening. Put belt over the pump pulley and stretched to go over the motor shaft. Then check the cogged belt and the cogged end of the pully to make sure that there are cogs, replace belt if there are cogss missing or belt is broke, if no cogs on the pulley, then you will have to replace the pump. Pulley only comes witht he pump.

That is correct; the new pump has a metal pulley, which is more durable.

Bissell Proheat Clearview - Belt and pump keep melting

Is the brush roll turning freely? Is there something binding the pump pulley or belt casuing it to not turn? Was the replacement pump a new one? If you replace these parts again, after doing so, try turning the pump pulley by hand to see if it will turn the brush roll easlly, if it doesn't then there is a problem.

How do you replace the belt? I took off the door and there seems to be no easy way to get it over the lower red wheel.

Check the bottom of the tank and make sure that the seal is on the valve and not sitting in the hole where the tanks sits. At the back, is the top and bottom tight together, or is there a gap, should be no gap. Is the mix valve **** turning easily or is it hanging up? Sometimes the flow indicator cap leaks air and needs to be replaced. To get to the pump, you have to take off the top cover. Look and see if any lines are pinched, if not, then replace the pump, also check the pump belt.
