Question about Maytag CWE5800A Electric Double Oven

1 Answer

Heating The top oven works fine, the lower, larger oven won't preheat. You can set the temp and it may crawl slowly up to 150-175 but takes a half hour and won't heat up. It is had very limited use since new 2 years ago. It worked fine prior to setting the clean feature a few months ago.

I would first check the lower units bake element , usually a visually inspection is enough to determine if its good or nor, usually a burn mark can be seen on the element itself, and if you can even see the element the bottom f the oven cavity will lift off for better inspection

I have GE model#JKP45WOP2WG double oven wall unit. Lower oven isn't heating up properly. Bottom of lower oven doesn't seem as hot as the top of the oven... replaced oven sensor, not

Most double wall ovens are technically two separate oven boxes. The lower oven box has its bake, boil elements, high limit thermostat and ofcourse its own oven sensor. If the lower oven box boil is working good and less heat on bake feature may suggest that the bake element is burned out and only getting preheated with boil element. Just a suggestion here

My whirlpool oven was preheating for 45 min and only got to 230, but the broil setting works just fine. What is going on, is it the baking element?

Oven temperature fluctuates.Oven heats to correct temp on preheat, but as the food cooks the temperature drops.

Model GBS307PDQ5: Oven preheated to 425 degrees.

F3 usually means, that the oven temp. sensor is bad and one need to replace it.
The fact, that it's not heating tells me, the fuse in the back also needs to be replaced (requires pulling out).

Kenmore oven lower element sporadically heating.

When the food you're baking is done on top but not on the bottom--or when baking just takes far too long to finish--the bake element may be burned out.

You may get fooled into thinking it's working, because the oven is hot inside. But many electric ovens use the broil element, too, during the preheat and bake cycles. So the food may be getting heated only by the broil element, which causes poor baking results.

If the bake element is burned out, replacing it should solve the problem. Otherwise, you need to further troubleshoot the oven's electrical system to locate the defective wire or component.

Bottom oven of dacor double oven

I found the lower circuit breaker had been tripped. That didn't fix the problem but upon further inspection whoever had worked on the unit years ago had dropped a screwdriver that had lodged between the oven wall and the rear casing and shorted out the lower heating element. I removed the screwdriver and oven works fine now. I don't think that will solve the cmmclow problem but maybee the curcuit breaker is tripped.
