Sounds like an issue with your defrost circuit. Usually the defrost terminator. It is mounted on the coil behind the panel inside the freezer. There are two wires going to it. It is the size of a quarter around and maybe an inch thick. Good luck!

My whirlpool gold refrig is icing on bottom of freezer. Is there any way to fix it without removing the back panel of the freezer?

You may need to manually defrost it, Even a frost free freezer can get frost. After you do that, make sure that you leave enough room for air to flow around.

Have a Whirlpool Gold fridge. Model #GB2SHDXTQ00. This week the fridge stopped working but the bottom freezer works fine. Is this just a thermostatic control issue? What part might be causing the problem? ...

Check the back wall of the freezer for frost . If there is then it is either the defrost heater, timer or thermostat. If there is no frost check to see if the fan in the freezer is running.

Refrigerator not cooling, only fan is running.Compressor is hot to the touch. Frost accumulating in freezer and on produce drawer temp controls

Somewhere air is getting past the door seal. The door may not be closing all the way. Frost cannot accumulate without a source of water. It comes in the air thats getting in past the seal. Check the drawers to be sure they are all the way in. Check anything that may be sticking out that may prevent the door from closing all the way. Check the door seal for damage and replace the seal if any significant damage is found. Good luck

Whirlpool gold:upper half of refridgerator side not cold

Either the evap fan has a problem, or the defrost system has failed. You should never see frost in the freezer section as the defrost sensor should sense that the coils need to be defrosted before that much frost accumulates.

Unplugging to clean out helped because the frost got a chance to melt away.

If you find the evap motor is running, then the things to check are the defrost sensor, the defrost timer, and the defrost heater.

Reply back if you would like more info.

Fridge and freezer not cold enough since we moved

remove the panel at the reaar of the freezer. you should have a full frost pattern on your evaporator (frosted not snow packed) and the fan should be running. if you do not have a full frost pattern then you have a sealed system leak. covered under the first five years of your warranty
