Question about Philips 19PR19 19" TV

After Power outage - picture is larger than screen

After a power outage, the display on our tv is now larger than the tv screen area. Part of the show is off the screen. For example, while watching a ballgame, the score shown on the top left-hand corner is partially off the screen! We have this problem on a couple of our TV's after the outage and on one of them (also a Phillips Magnavox but a smaller set) we were able to change one of the settings from Expand 4:3 format to just 4:3 format and it improved a little but not completely. On the other TV (Phillips 19PR21 19") set I cannot find a way to change this setting.

Any ideas why this happened and how to fix it?

Thanks, Steve

This TV also should have similar facility like 19" Tv. Try the menu, it may be in different name or classification. I do not suspect circuit fault. If you can access service menu code you can try. Better take assistance from service center. If you access service menu, do not for get to note down the values in each and every step.

Video circuit is separate from the Audio circuit. The main controller may switch to Audio, but if the unit is damaged from a power outage; part of the circuit board may not function. Needs professional servicing.

Had a power outage and now my TV is not showing any pictures except for the blue screenn

Outage may have changed the input channel on TV so make sure you're on the right one. Press and hold the Power button on cable box. Let that restart. Unplug the router for 10 seconds and let it boot up.

Sony KDL-V32XBR1 Displays only snowy picture

Here are a few more troubleshooting steps you can try when your TV picture is just snow. I see that you have already rebooted your TV, but did you turn your set-top box off and on, too?

1. Does the picture show when you play a DVD?
2. Check all of the connections between the TV, outlet and set-top box and make sure everything is secured.
3. Is your TV set to the correct channel (typically 3, but in some areas 2 or 4)?
4. Press any key on the remote to see if the correct mode lights up. (Ex: if you have cable, the cable button should light up). If it doesn't, press the correct mode's button to regain control and change channels.
5. Call your service provider and make sure it's not an overall service outage.
6. Do you have sound but no picture? If so, it could mean a backlight failure.

For more suggestions, see TV black screen or snowy screen for troubleshooting and solutions. I hope this helps!

1. there is porblem with the lcd screen. if it is in warranty, have it replaced or repaired

2. some tvs save the last state it was in in case of power outages. taking it out of the power source will have the same effect. so turn off the tv before unplugging it.

VCR will not show picture or menu on TV after power outage.

Hate to say this, but when power outages occur, things like vcr's are the first thing to fry. But if you feel that the vcr is fine as far as powering up, then unplug it from the wall socket for 30 minutes or so, plug back in and see results.

When TV is off and there is a power outage the TV

This TV has a Power Standby feature (pg. 40 of your manual) which allows you to more quickly turn ON the TV. When power is lost and then restored, your TV will display the HP logo screen while it boots the digital circuits. After it is finished, (unless it was previously turned on) it should appear to be OFF. This is normal operation. If you like, you can change this setting to LOW POWER. At this setting, each time you turn on the TV, you will see the HP Logo screen and picture/sound will appear after 20 seconds. Again, take a look at pg. 40 of your owners manual for more information.

You have to go into the TV menu setup screen.

After a power outage the memory will go back to factory default.

Don't be surprise if it's display is not in English.

The black box is field for close caption (CC).

There are many transmission methods.
