Dell Dimension 4550, OS = WINXPPRO. Just reformatted and reload OS. Got and installed drivers from Dell.com. System sees onboard ehternet but says no driver for a PCI communications device. Cannot...

Dell Dimension 4550 Drivers
From the above link you can download the required drivers. There are two drivers available for Broadcom and Intel. I suggested try the Intel Drivers (as your system may be having the Intel based Ethernet)
To PCI communication Controller (Modem) you have to install the Modem Drivers
Trt Eicon (recommended) Or broadcom conaxant etc

Hope it helps! Good Luck!

Dev Man Errors / drivers

Go to www.support.dell.com and select "I'm looking for drivers and downloads". If you don't have the proper version of Adobe you will be prompted to install it. Once installed return to "drivers and downloads" and enter the "service tag",(serial number) of the 820 laptop. Dell keeps a listing of drivers for every customer's computer they sell.
The PCI device, simple communications controller is your dial-up modem card.

Pci simple cmmunication cntroller modem driver

Hi rajamke, that statement (PCI simple communication controller modem driver), means your modem is missing it's driver software. If you have a driver CD that came with the PC you should be able to find the driver. There will be more than one. You install the driver that matches your Windows version.

Have more questions, feel free to ask.
Good Luck!
